So as I'm sitting here, thinking about some of my cherished child hood bands go down the drain (music wise), I thought I should post some random thoughts I had.
1.) The heart is controlled by electrical signals from the brain stem. Yet when the heart stops, why are we shocking the heart? Why aren't we shocking the brain stem?
2.) Everyone claims that time is the fourth dimension. But given that it doesn't actually exist, I don't see how people can claim this. Why aren't actual physical properties the other dimensions, like weight, density (though those two may be one dimension), electrical charge, energy, chemical properties, momentum...
What are some random thoughts of yours?

The heart is not controlled by the brain. The electric impulses that make the heart beat comes from the sinoatrial node in the right atrium. You can chop a man's head off and the heart will continue pumping until there is no more blood left to pump.

Good one, however, I just got a chain mail with the same text you just posted. Get a life LOSER!
MWAAAHAHAHAHHAHAA

Well, that answers that one. I thought I had remembered from biology class that the brain stem controls involuntary actions on the body. So, I just assumed...
If it really was a chain mail, then it's entirely coincidental. I don't open chain mails.

one time my friend texted me a chain letter...... i then proceded to donkey punch him......

You do of course know what a donkey punch is, right?

Did he thank you with a reach around?

This thread is only 10 or so post deep but I believe it may have the potential to go 10+ pages...lmfao.....bring er on.
by the way....you take it on the chin sailor....stop posting chain mails! lmfao!

Why do they call it a turn pike when its a road....not a fish with turns in it?
Why is it officially called a weiner/dong, but not a joystick? (at least in the medical books) lmfao.

Did you know Kirk Cameron is now a televengalist (sp) ?

How do you study engineering and not explore fundamentals as these?

It's a lot more complex :)
there is also the orthosympatic* nervous system + the vague* nerve , I guess you can find more information on wiki
* well ... french naming translated by my incompetence :p

Why is it given that time does not exist? It is hard to define it, but there is a direction that sets the past apart from the future. Some physical processes are irreversible and therefore there is a clear "before" and "after".
When you talk about time as a forth dimention it is because it behaves similar to space dimentions in relativity (although not exactly the same). You have propagation in time and/or of space. There is no propagation in electric chanrge, it is a conserved quantity. Momentum transforms between different frames of reference similar to space, but seperately, and is mixed with energy, same as space is mixed with time. Momentum and position do affect each other in quantum mechanics. Special importance in quantum mechanics is given to the "phase space", which is composed of the 3 space dimentions and their corresponding 3 momentum components. In this 6D phase space the picture of the world is "pixeled" and instead of moving smoothly through it, it is divided into discrete cells with phase-space volume of the Plank constant to the power of 3.

Chewing on an adrenal gland with the left molars, a gall bladder right, and a bayonette up front, in case his rifle runs out of ammo.. HARRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Really Laser, you study engineering, which is based on what? What do you engineer - ethers and spirits?
Physics are the frame to it all.

The 10 dimension animation was interesting.

Engineering is the practical application of physics in my field. I'm currently studying Architectural Engineering. We don't have to take classes on nuclear engineering or physics past materials, dynamics, statics or basic electricity, because nothing past those are necessary to surviving in our field.
Just as much as a Education major wouldn't have to take classes on advanced masonry design and construction.

Suit yourself..

What if we all experience our own parallel time lines and we are all but one being rolling down a megamultidimensional mobius strip.
"I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together."
A random but scary thought.

It'd be ironic how stupid each one of us is individualy, compared to the vastness of the whole being.

Why should we waste our time and money learning skills we will never need? Not to mention my degree is a 5 year program for only a bachelors. Imagine extending it to 6 years for just a bachelors degree.

Engineering is applied physics.
(There are no rocket scientists... they are applying physics to to solve real world problems. They are rocket engineers)
However....
Time is a real world dimension, or meters/second would be a dimension divided by a dimensionless number and then the units for speed would be just meters.
meters/second*second would be identical to just meters...
If time were not a dimension, distance, speed, and acceleration would be indistinguishable.
