Just bought a 20.1" LCD widescreen monitor.
I tried running AH2 in the LCD's native resolution of 1680x1050, but the bottom part of my instrument panel got cut off.
In the meantime it's back down to 1280x1024, but I'm looking for alternatives to improving my resolution without sacrificing instrument panel space.

The native resolution is 5:4 as in 1280:1024.
With a width of 1680 the height should be 1680/5*4 = 1344.
So you are "loosing" 1344 - 1050 = 294 pixels in the height

My 19" wide-screen is 1440x900. Not sure it that helps.

You can always try to leave it at the default resolution. Then move your seat back using the down arrow key and hit F10 to save this as your default setting. You must do this for all planes.
Or
You can buy a track IR and this will solve your problem of not being able to quickly see some of those lower gauges.
Or
You can somehow, add black bars that run up/down on the left and right side of your monitor and run Aces high in the original 4:3 ratio resolution, but you must have this option in your video drivers. unfortuneately, I do not know how to implement this option. I've been told it has been done before. This way, you do not get anything cut off or stretched in the process.
Or
You do nothing and play with it in a stretched mode and have nothing being cut off.

BTW, I went with the TrackIR route.

With Nvidia cards, it's in the Digital Flat Panel Display settings. Look for "Fixed Aspect Ratio Scaling".

Turn your screen vertical... 1050x1680.
You will still have what you had horizontally, but you will see much more of your instrument panel and much more of the sky above ;)
It should work. Search the hardware forum for previous threads.

I'm using a 22" wide screen with 1680 X 1050 resolution, to view the lower part of the instrument panel, I select key pad 8, key page down and key arrow down, once I have the view I want I press the F10 key to save the view. Works for evry plane.

I have the Samsung 20.1 LCD. Unfortunately, if you go higher than 1280 you will have some of top and bottom of the screen cut off. Its a known limitation to the 16:9 ration in AH.

It is earlier stated in other threads, that AH2 (directX) has maximum vertical view angle of 90 degrees. That is the fixed factor. What you get vertically is directly related to your screen ratio and has nothing to do with actual resolution. The resolution simply tells how many pixels you have on your screen.
Comparing to a "normal" 4:3 (horizontal/vertical) screen, e.g. a screen with 1280x1024 resolution (= 5:4) has more vertical view angle. Similarily a 1680x1050 (= 16:9) screen has less vertical view angle.
All these different screens have the same horizontal view angle.
Try fliping the screen 90degs if your display drivers allow that. You should get a pretty decent vertical angle.
