Hey all!
I just played AH and I noticed that there is no "take off catapult" on the carrier.
By catapult I mean the thing that makes an f-16 leave a 100 feet runway on a carrier...
My question is...
Is there a way to use that catapult device and make it easier to take off and land on a carrier?
Oh and by the way ...
Has anyone noticed that in the game's airports there are helipads when there are no helicopters in the game?

There are no catapults and you don't need one.
You can find a nice short guide to carrier takeoffs and landings on the Aces High Trainer Corps Homepage: trainers.hitechcreation.com (http://trainers.hitechcreation.com)
And there are no helipads on airports. There are small rearmpards at end of runways, maybe that's you are talking about?

forgot to add that F-16s aren't carrier aircraft either...

My guess is the 'helicopter landing pad' is actually the Rearm/ Refuel pad.

If I recall correctly, the catapult wasn't actually used all that often on the Essex class carriers. During WWII catapults were Hydraulic and the aircraft weren't designed for them, requiring a cradle to be attached to the aircraft.
Which would have to be caught after take-off. The process to launch all... what? 80 Aircraft with two catapults... would take forever and wouldn't be worth the security of knowing you'll reach flight speed.
Especially since all carrier borne aircraft of the period could take off on the runway space of a carrier deck, and with the ship steaming at 20-30 knots into the wind... Takeoff was easy for large numbers of aircraft without catapults.
Once Jet aircraft really hit the scene in the 50's is was necessary to adapt catapults as jets take alot more room to take off than prop driven aircraft.
It was some British guy who came up with steam driven catapults and in the late 50's most of the Essex class carriers were refitted with them, along with an added runway for landing/takeoff that angled off to port.

i read an article in a magazine called CODE ONE i think about how the navy has recently made a few f16s carrier planes

The F-16N was only used as a land based aggressor for Top Gun and never modified to land on a carrier. IIRC, they were also mothballed some time in the mid-90's after the Navy closed down Top Gun in Mirimar and moved Top Gun somewhere else.
