Got killed:
1 shot 1 kill 7 times from a panzer...in the frontal armor of Tiger...I must say...
-
It happens.
-
lol... was he shooting you from D001 ?

When I get killed like that I just grab a bomber and go egg him. I dont mind getting ranged within a few shots, but 1 shot at extreme range really is unreal. Especially since there isnt a range finder.
-
I've already discovered how useless the tiger is now.
And that's official.
Why up a tiger when it gets killed in one hit from panzers, even T34s.
And speaking of T34s, I went H2H with one in a tiger, and he survived 5 of my shots bouncing off his front and turret armor.
1 shot into my front armor and I'm dead.
Yeah, that's really realistic HiTech.
What a joke.

I love how people know EXACTLY where they get hit in a GV and also how many rounds of .50 cal or cannons that they got hit with when dogfighting.
I have been playing this game for over 5 years and I could never presume to know EXACTLY where I got hit in a GV (I have a general idea) or how many rounds I took in a dogfight ... bollocks I say.
When I die in a GV, I presume that they shot me in a weak point and thats that ... when I survive a round, I presume that they shot me in a strong point in the armour or at an angle that did not allow penetration of the round.
The GV damage model is not perfect, but it is the most complex "damage" model in all of AH. It was all explained by Pyro at a convention in Grapevine and all those that attended were really surprised by what it takes to determine the damage.
As far a ranging people ... if you spend enough time in a tank, you can get your first round on target without a problem. Go up against some of the LTARs or Whels in a GV ... you better get the first shot in, or its all over.
And speaking of T34s, I went H2H with one in a tiger, and he survived 5 of my shots bouncing off his front and turret armor.
With the amount of time it takes to reload a T34, and you were H2H with a Tiger, and all he got was 1 round on you ?
Either ...
he sucked
or
you were shooting at long distance
or
your embellishing.

I was roughly 500 yards away, his chassis was facing me, but his turret was angled slightly to the left as he was shooting at someone else. On the fifth shot he rotated his turret and shot me.
-
Just to add...just got killed more times front armor from panzer...2.5K away...
-
LMAO Husky!

somthing funny is going on with GV's i was at a spawn,in a tiger,an M3 pops up.I shot and it deflected off i shot agan another deflection,i ended up shooting and deflecting off of him 7 times and my squad mate deflected off of him 3 times. Now two tigers bouncing off an M3 10 times total is not normal.

I have a simple solution:
Stay outa GV's. I don't think thats to difficult.
or is it?

I upped a Tiger the other day and rolled onto the runway, looked out to the left and right, and No F****** wings????? How in the he11 are you supposed to fight with no wings? I mean it has a great gun package, and ammo loadout, but if it can't fly, how do you dogfight with it? Must have been a bug on that map!
:noid
-
when I up a Tiger what is the deal with no wingmen I have formations checked, this is starting to make me mad  how can I kill LVTs when I dont have the other 2
How in the he11 are you supposed to fight with no wings?
ya know I just thought i was stalling on takeoff and just suxd but now that you mention the wing deal Ill have to look and see hmmmmmm.
This post has been purely in good taste no HTC employees were harmed in the making of this:D

Hmmm, next whine post about a HO then I guess we can just say "Stay outta planes. I don't think that's to difficult. Or is it?

Never mind the muppet banter. They feel that somehow they must comment on anything, or everything. People have fun in gv's... they don't see why, and they feel they have to mock someone for it. It's standard repressed children syndrome: daddy-didn't-hug-me so now I have to bully someone in an online game.
C' est L' vie...
anyway... i agree, something has been done to the tiger... it's become completely ineffectual. It takes one hit from just about everything now and goes pop... 50kg eggs are doing it. Meanwhile the unperked M4 is gold... what's the point of spawning anything but, when fighting on the ground. Best gun... quickest traverse of turret... highest elevation of turret...takes pass after pass from aircraft and keeps fighting. Shot down 14 A/c with its' main gun the other day. Unperked and overmodelled, the La-7 of the gv's.
Meanwhile... tiger now has the 2nd best gun... the worst elevation and the slowest traverse and reload period.... and it's perked. Got tracked yesterday in it by a shot that bounced in from 70 yards away. I know cuz i saw the thing bounce TWICE in my gunsight.

SHHHH don't tell anyone, but HE works better on an M3 and other thin skin vehicles..

Bollocks ... the T-34 has the slowest re-load of all tanks in AH, don't paint with such a broad brush ... it doesn't help your cause.
Bollocks ... In all the years of playing this game and putting a fair amount of time in GVs, I have NEVER EVER seen a round bounce off the ground.
I have walked numerous rounds (at times) to range a GV and have had many GVs walk rounds to try and range me and NEVER EVER have I seen them bounce ... in either direction. Total BS without film.

Without a doubt HE rounds are nice cause you don't need a direct hit ... BUT ... any M3 that gets wacked by 1 Tiger AP round ... should be toast.
-
I'm no professional camper, but I did take a tiger out the other night. Lost the first 2 to direct frontal hits from Panzers at ranges between 800 and 1200, and the third to just a few hits- I heard a few impacts, 1 loud, maybe 2 softer richochet hits. It was the map with no Shermans enabled, and the only 2 vehicles I'd seen were T-34s and Panzers, so it was presumably one of those.
There is certainly a noticeable difference in the GVs (with the Tiger being a real weak link now) since the tweaks from the more recent patch, but whether this means the tiger was ridiculously overmodelled before, or is too vulnerable now is purely conjecture.
As far as the bouncing round, I have a really hard time believing that. I've never seen a GV round ricochet or bounce off of anything but another vehicle.

I read somewhere that the AP round will poke hole threw an M3, but do little damage as the hull isn't thick enough to do damage.
Remember, an AP round does the damage in RL, by spreading fire into the inner workings of the tank due to the heat generated by the thickness of the armor and the speed and hardness of the round hitting the tank (think friction generated blow torch).
An M3 doesn't have the thickness in the armor to generate enough heat, it just passes through (small hole in, small hole out).
At least, that's what I hear, but I am not an expert (nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn last night).

What you say is probably correct, but I have shot M3s at point blank range ... in the tracks ... in the engine compartment. Even if the round when straight thru ... I don't doubt for a second that the engine would be nothing but a smoking hunk of scrap metal or the tracks and drive train would be nothing but a bunch of twisted metal.
With that, I also fail to believe that anyone that is in an M3 and gets wacked by a Tiger round at point blank range would survive and if they did survive ... they wouldn't have the senses to be able to continue to drive the M3. The impact force and energy must be incredible when shot a point blank range.
Also, I wasn't just talking about just vehicle damage ... the driver should be taken into consideration (Pilot wound / Pilot kill) just like when flying a plane.
EDIT: The Tiger sports an 88mm shell that weighs 20kgs and has a muzzle velocity of of 1000m per second when firing armor piercing rounds.
M3s should never survive a hit from that.

What he probably saw (and this is just a guess) is the rounds of several tanks coming at him fired at approximately the same time, the first person's round hitting short and the second person's round closer but still short and the third persons round is probably the one that hit.

husky,it's hard to film somthing if you dont know it is going to happen.Even if i did start filming part way through with the M3 HTC will say somthing like it's lag or some crap like that.
-
i frequently get one shot one kill at 2.0-2.4 in a tiger if i've been up in it a while i have been practicing hitting moving targets at 2.-2.4 last night i got three with 3 shots each. by marking the screen with my mouse even a moving target is not that hard once you find the right lead. also high ground is very very important. it just takes practice and maybe a lot of pheasant hunting.

I would respond to your post, and your particular mastery of english, or should I say, lack thereof... but I see you are from NY and already know everything about anything, and your opinion means more than the next person anyway.
It is particular bad taste to mock those who pay for whatever fun they may like, be it GV's, Buffs or fighters, just because you don't feel the same way. It is also a sign of extreme immaturity that you must mock someone so quickly, especially in something so trivial as an online game. What do you care if he likes gv's...?

Maybe HTC should consider removing GV's from the game because you don't think they should be there because the word fly is in the title...
Sphinter isn't in the title either, but there sure are a bunch of them on this board and in the game....no?
It's been said before, it's my (his) $15, I (he/she) will play it the way we want to. It's poor form to defecate on someones post when you have nothing but ridicule to add..
