Robin Olds night.
We kinda figured we should pay tribute to General Olds on his passing in our own little AH way by flying 479th FG marked 38Js in his honor and shooting any LW birds we came across.
Sad to say the Spits were up in abundance but we did find a few to knock down. I kinda liked this one, and imagined Robin Olds in his 38J over the French coast, knocking down a 190.
It was good fun :)

Somehow once the word gets out that a bunch of 38s are hunting a particular type bird, they tend to disappear. I kinda figured with the abundance of 109K4s lately it wouldn't have been a problem :)
We tried reverse psychology a previous time but that didn't work either.
Scary to see a mob of 38s all target one type of bird cause that's what we're after that night :)
Gotta get the screenshots ya know:aok
The last time we did John Lowell night to hunt Spits and they disappeared. There were tons of em tonite as you saw too.
When we did Fester 432nd FG skins night, we couldn't find enough Japanese birds. Considering all the N1Ks and Ki84s around, you'd think we'd have had plenty.
I suppose next time we could post about it ahead of time and see if we get more guys to shoot at us in the birds we're looking for;)

Was glad that I was able to get home early enough to fly with the rest of the SAPP guys. I'm glad the 479th guys and SAPP were able to do this in memory of General Olds, just wish we had a Scat II skin for our J-15.
ack-ack
