Well thats that.
I just had enough. Been working 7 years for the same employer, and i just had enough today, good feeling i must say, been thinking about doing this for _so_ long time.
Well, 2 months and counting then i have no idea what im gonna be doing. Called 3 friends that have construction companys, and they say its no problem for me getting work from them. So it will be nice to work with old time friends for an change.
Well im pretty tired of the IT field as of now. But the market is booming. Im probably gonna get back into the IT field some time, but now im fed up with it, been working in the field since 1994.
Well. Finally i did it. Wish me luck.

Good luck man!
I know how you feel, I stayed at a place for nine years. I did my very best to make money for the company. From year 5 on they decided raises were only for only management. I hung on expecting them to do the right thing, after all we were making them a lot of money....... Pfft never happened.
Last November I finnally found a job doing something completely different. Less hours way more money and much more satisfaction. The people I work with are fantastic. It's like night and day, I hope you have the same kind of luck.:aok

Good Luck.:aok

G'luck Maniac...
i was wondering if it wouldn't have been better to have another job in the bag before quitting the IT job? or was there an incident that "broke the camel's back" so to speak?
anyway, where there's a will, there's a way.

What timing. I just got laid off of my IT job this morning. Been at it for a year and a half and then the executives decided the managed services division isn't worth keeping.
Lord, here I go again.
:cry

WTG, Dude!
Bad employers DO NOT DESERVE good employees.
I worked for a real JERK for three years...then said to heck with 'em and made a great decision....I'm going to be MY OWN BOSS!
Example:
Monday = $425 dollar day
Tuesday = $175 dollar day
Today = $526 dollar day
Tomorrow should be almost as good as today.
I hope your decision finds you awake before the alarm goes off because you love what you do!
Rock on!

Im on a 130pm to 10pm shift now. I thought it would be better than nights...but mid-day shifts seem to be worse!
I've had some interviews for something else in the IT field...but its nights. 4 Days on, 3 off. Its significantly more money tho...so who knows :)

Good luck Maniac, and WTG Diablo!
Cooch...I am an agent for AFLAC, you know, the "duck" company.
I was a casino marketing director, the most fun job I ever had, but worked for jerks.
Being my own boss rocks, though!
Yeah, it's hard work, and some very long days, but it's worth it.
It's not for everybody, but if you can get through the first 6 months--you have got it!
BTW: every policy you enroll keeps paying you commission every month that someone keeps it. Many agents are able to retire after 10 years. My partner is 23...he'll be able to retire at 33.

Thanks for all the support :)
Well, almost an week into the decision and im still sure that this was the right thing to do. Have got confirmation from my friends with the construction buisinesses that there is no problem for me getting stray work from all three of them. So that feels good.
Well still 2 months to go, then im taking the opportunity to travel for 1-2 months. I will probably check the abroad job market just for fun. Otherwise im in construction when i get back home. Will be nice to work with the body instead of with your brain for anwhile.
Probably gonna save up money and travel for an longer time when i get home, like 6-12 months in Asia wouldnt do me wrong i think. Then after that i probably will get back into the IT branch. Right now i had it with computers and peoples problems with em.
It has been alot of "What are we going to do now" comments/reactions at work, and "You cant do this!!" wich i just went "Yes i can do this, just watch me, you can hire consultants or something".
They will be ok eventually, it will cost em alot of money in the beginning tough.
:)

UPDATE :
Well, got an new job today hehe. Still in IT. Same salary as i have today, when my "trial period" is over we renegotiate my salary (in six months).
I get to choose when i want to start working for them, so its Thailand for an month, then i return rested and motivated for an new Challange.
That went well.
:aok
