What I mean by that is any one who does it for a living. Specifically auto/marine/aircraft painters.
I have been spraying boats sail/power for about 7 years now. About 3 years ago I switched from devilbis to binks equipment. I've been using the Mach I SL hvlp with good results. However the quest for better is never ending so....
I'm looking for a little input on sata spray equipment. I've been eying the SATAjet® K3™ HVLP digital. Since the AH BBS is such a fountain of knowledge figured I try posting. So any of you use sata equipment? If so, whats your opinion of their equipment.
BTW 90% of my paint work is done with AwlGrip/Awlcraft 2000.
Ohh and nilsen, no I wont paint your boat.:p :D

Bronk,
The Mach 1 SL has been around for quite awhile, I work for ITW Industrial Finishing who owns both Binks and DeVilbiss, I work the Industrial side not the Refinsih side however I know the refinish group has several newer tecnology products that could help you.
I think its either the GTI Plus or Com guns, they may have different brand names. Sorry for the commercial but I guess what Im saying is don't give up on Binks or DeV yet check out the newer guns before you make a decision on Sata. you might like what you find.
If your not in a hurry I can dig up some literature for you in PDF format. Let me know.

Edit: Did a quick check on guns you mentioned. Those appear to be gravity guns. When doing 30'+ boats, 1qt cup guns just don't cut it. Any others you can point me to?

Have you ever sprayed gelcoat before?
-
Both guns should come in Gravity or Pressure HVLP or Conventional the Com gun also comes in Trans Tech a version of LVLP (Low Volume Low Pressure).

A few months ago I did a Trade Focus trip to Miami, we visted, Donzi Marine, Betram Yacht, Regal Marine, Renegade Boats, I think there were about 13 Boat manufacturers in all. At that time we were focusing on new plural component machines for laying down the glass and resin. No matter the location I can get ahold of our rep and find who he would reccommend.
I'll admit ive been away from the application side for allmost 10 years now so I'm probaly not the best for recommending material, application equals gun, buy I know a bunch of people who live that stuff.

Yes, one customer wanted his J-24 refinished entirely with gelcoat.
That entails sanding and buffing all gloss areas. Was quite possibly the most aggravating job I've ever done.
