Title: I'm getting a new joystick, but need help on choosing
Post by: lpjuunin on June 23, 2007, 02:58:38 PM
Ok, I think I have enough for a decent joystick. But I have never bought, or even analyzed any individual joysticks, so I have no clue which is good and decent.

(I'll only pay 20-25 dollars exact. No more and no less. I don't want an "ub3r 0mg sw3etaculr" joystick that sells at 50+, but I don't want a cheap Toys 'R Us joystick for 15-...oh and I can't order online...=/ so Best Buy or Circuit City will be prefered)

So...any suggestions? Thanks in advance. =)

Avoid Logitech... I've had two - both had severe problems with precision.

In that price range - go for whatever Saitek you can find.

What he said - I don't know how much you play or how long you expect your new stick to last but the Logitech sticks in any price range don't seem to last me more than 6 - 9 months - so you buy say 2 - 3 sticks a year and that's $40 - $75 a year just in sticks...

Go for a saitek all of their sticks seem to last much longer...The Saitek ST290 is available on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-ST290-Programmable-Joystick-Throttle/dp/B0000AW9RE/ref=pd_bbs_12/002-6489760-2569669?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1182635423&sr=8-12)  for $24.47 including shipping...also stores like WalMart, Target, Best Buy, etc sell the ST290 for about the same price. You might check out the link to amazon for the reviews and to see what the stick(s) look like.

*Edit* missed the part about "can't order online" so see the text above in bold. Also - you might get better replies in the Hardware forums...

I've had my Saitek ST290 Pro for 5 years and it still works. It costs about $20.
