Had never heard of this plane so I googled it.

Pretty effing sweet. Wish I had one.

After looking at that link, I'm curious as to how many propeller driven combat aircraft (not helos or Osprey-ish) are still being used/or developed.

Not sure where the question is directed. I know that prop aircraft are still in high development, hence pipers, push-pulls, and cesna. Are you refering to the aircraft that shot down the traffickers? If so, that is a good question. I would assume that the aircraft was refurbished or just modified and outfitted with weapons. Anyone have any educated information on this?

Watching the combat was really interesting. OTOH, we watched the death of one or more people.

Porkfrog posted the link. You could at least read that article before you assume.
There are many similar aircraft in service. Pilatus PC-9 and derivates (Texan II), PZL-130 to name the few.
Both Tucano and Super Tucano come standard with wing mounted 2 x 0.50 cals. There's an option for 20mm cannon pod.
"The main missions of the aircraft, in addition to basic and advanced pilot training, are border patrol and counter-insurgency operations" and in that role Tucano is simply superb...

That wasn't combat...it was stepwise display of force against a plane that ignored warnings and refused to stop running. The plane kept running for the border even after being fired upon by marked military aircraft; and we have to assume that the pilot had very good reasons to take that kind of risk.
Odds are very good that he Was Not A Nice Man....

The Drug plane pilot promptly got on channel 200 and called the Tucano pilot a BnZ tard and said the Tucano is a Dweeb ride. Amirite???

Yeah, unfortunatley the internet connection and firewalls etc onboard my ship don't allow most content to display properly, this being one of those times. Hell, if you try to access youtube, we get diverted back to the ships homepage. But you know, you are right. Keep in mind that assumptions got us to send transmissions to be intercepted by the Japanese to verify they were targeting Midway. Not the end of the world. Thanks for the info though.

I will sum up for you.
Camera plane: Dude, stop! You're too close to the border!
Drug plane: ....
CamPlane: Rodolfo, tell him again in Spanish.
Rodolfo: Por Favor, Stoppo El Enginos.
Drugplane: ....
CamPlane: ....
Tucano: Fine. I'm on it.
Drugplane: **** me, I'm smoking.
CamPlane: Seriously, stop now. Final warning.
Drugplane: **** you. I will shake you using my amazing powers of banking left, and then right.
Tucano: blam blam blam
Drugplane: I'm on fire! No es bueno!
-
I couldnt help but think that that drug plane wouldnt have lasted nearly as long if even one of our AH players was after him LOL
-
I'm surpised the american plane didn't swoop in to steal the kill when the tucano got him smoking.

Not much of one....maybe that this now dead person passed up on multiple chances to choose another fate, and that he was getting the consequence of his action. I suppose I meant that I dont feel a lot of compassion for him when I see the results of his choices.
I'm sure you weren't wringing your hands over the guy, and were just pointing out that real life isnt a video game. Didnt mean to imply that we were on opposite sides of some issue, just reacting to the thread.
-
I thought it looked like fun. Dude almost made it to the border even, just two miles from freedom. Sucks not having self-sealing fuel tanks though.

Rgr Simaril, you read my post dead on. I feel the same.

If that were an Aces High pilot....the guys in the camera-plane would be saying "Dang, I only got the assist" :)
-
P51 would also do the job nicely?

Yeah, I could see a biblethumper hugging the terrain and ignoring
both radio warnings and gunfire...this is a stretch even for our northern

what were they doing? are we supposed to feel sorry for them??? they knew EXACTLY what they were doing, and brought that fate on themselves......better this outcome than for us to support them in a prison for the rest of their lives......and MUCH better that thos drugs at least never made it to some kid's veisn....wouldn't you agree????
sorry if i sound harsh...but they probably had at least 1/2 dozen warnings before any of what we saw happened.....and they probably flew plenty of runs without getting caught, and through that, THEY probably were responsible for quite a few deaths themselves.........
they got what they deserved.........
