Anyone gonna watch this movie?:)
-
they filmed part of that just down the street from where I used to live. had to put up with 2 weeks of parking a half mile down the street because of all the damn movie trucks.
ack-ack

Just as soon as it's on HBO.
I like Bruce Willis and I still think there's life left in the Die Hard series. But, I'm afraid this one is going overboard with the cartoonish CGI stunts. I thought they had set the mark in DieHard2 when he used the C-130's ejector seat or sliding down the cable onto the ship and falling 100's of feet to the steel deck. I was wrong.
Taking out a badguy by jumping out of a speeding police car that hits a bridge abutment and ricochets skyward into a flying helicopter is a bit much.
-
It'll probably be the first of the "die hards" that I'll see at a theatre.
-
I'm very reluctant about seeing a PG-13 Die Hard movie.

actually, i watched an interview with willis recently and he said that they made a decision to do more real stunts and less cgi stunts in this film. so it may not be quite so bad on that level this time around.

Maybe times have changed. What was RATED-R back then (early 90s) is now just PG-13:aok

The trailer shows a dozen CGI stunts completely outside the realm of even being a remote possibility. Ruins the whole thing for me, and I LOVE the Die Hard series.
In fact, the majority of the CGI stuff in action movies these days ruins it for me. Action movies have sunk to the level of trying to "one up" each other with absurd CGI stunts, each one exceeding the last in stupidity. Outrageous CGI stunts have replaced scripts, plots, and everything else actually worth watching in movies. The last bond with Brosnan in it was a prime example. It's ruined the whole genre for me. I hate it. But it saves me from spending stupid amounts of money going to see movies at the theater.

I 100% agree. The Bond film was running thru my mind when I first posted. Ruined the series for me. I have'nt seen Casino Royale, yet. It's suppossed to be very good with very little CGI.

as long as theres no wire fighting, the correct application of contrast and doesnt last one second longer than it should...it'll have a good number of recent action movies beat.
-
I heard a review of it this morning on the radio, said it was the best one of the series. Also said it wasnt full of computer generated BS.

Really? All I've heard are absolute flames... this gives me some hope.
I love the first movie... it's actually part of our Christmas tradition as it's one of my favorite holiday movies... :p ;) :aok

I saw CR... it doesn't have a traditional opening sequence, but the foot chase through the construction zone in the first part of the movie was one of the best stunt sequences I've seen. Brilliant.

Was a reinvention of the Bond story in the Bourne direction. Smart move and good movie imo.
-
Casino Royale was excellent. It was what all Bond films should be like, but seldom are. Daniel Craig is the best Bond to fill the role since Sean Connery gave it up.

Hopefully not in the Bourne Direction. The bourne identity series, both the movie and book, were painfully bad to watch / read.

casino royale was excellent until about the second time it should have ended. it was almost like they got distracted with the poker, and realized at the last minute they forgot to actually finish the plot...so they tacked on some fragmented garbage.

Its good. Alot better than they have been for sure.

I started watching CR on PPV a couple of nights ago. Got 30 minutes into it and fell asleep.
May as well end it if they can't find another Sean.
-
I like the Bourne movies. Don't like the Bond movies.
-
I believe Hollyweird needs to make a spoof with 3 geriatric "heros" (Willis, Arnold, and Sly clones) in the style of Scary Movie.

I was trying to describe the difference to a friend the other day between Casino Royale with Craig and any other Bond film.
It's visceral.
All the 007 movies before were emotionless cartoons by comparison.
-
Eh, disagree. Goldeneye is still my favorite Bond movie, with Casino Royale being second.
This is because both movies were at their basic levels, spy movies. Where as all the other bond movies I have seen are just action movies with the common character of James Bond.
-
It appears that we're hijacking a bit, but I can't help myself. I loved Casino Royal. I thought Daniel Craig made an amazing bond. He brings a physicality to the role not seen since Connery left.
As much as I love Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan... I could never bring myself to believe that when push came to shove that either of them would be able to hold their own... where as with Connery and now Craig, I can completely believe that they would be able to hand a beat-down to just about anyone, yet remain suave enough to run in respectable circles.
Just my $.02 :aok
