Last night I was browsing some books and I thought that the fight over Mancuria between Russia and Japan would be fun. Then I thought, "Heck, why stop there, let's get American, British, Italian and German kites in there as well".
What do you all think of a setting using aircraft such as :
A5M4
CR.42
Gladiator Mk 1
Hs123
I-16-18
Ki-27
P-26 Peashooter
Fighters focused on manuverability with light armament.
Heck, even this list would be fun:
A6M2
Bf109B
CR.42
Gladiator Mk I
I-16-24
Ki-43
P-40B
What do you all think? Fun to have fights that don't end in the first burst?

:aok I'll call your set and raise you with Fokker D.XXI ... and (ahem) Brewster ;)
-
No armor to speak off, very compact frames, usually it only took one good burst to put it out of the fight (or kill the pilot).
Did you consider the He-51, by any chance? That might give another plane option. And what was that soviet biplane? The one used for night nuisance raids against the germans (called "Night Witches" or something?)
-
I'm all for very early rides.
Krusty,
It was Polikarpov U-2, roughly compares to Tiger Moth...not a fighter aircraft.
-
cc, never mind then :)

The airwar over Poland in 1939 and France in 1940 would then also be of some interest?

Where's Arlo?
Spanish Civil war would be the one. That or the Chinese v Japanese pre Flying tigers.

I enjoy very much early war setups in AvA, great fights!
I also would like to have a planeset covering the Chinese/Japanese War, Spanish Civil War and Early early war with Poland and France invasions.
All these planes would be hangar queens but would make AH much more complete.
French, Italian and Soviet planesets are minimal. The Japanese planeset is also really missing important models.
The choice of B25 instead of a Brewster, a He111 or a Betty frustated me a bit and I love the 25H...I would accept better a P39, but...
Oh, well, two weeks...
