What would you recommend for AH on laptop?
Would a Dell Inspiron do it?
-
My Sony AR320E plays it very nicely.

I play on my Inspiron from 2004, and it works well. I just keep the settings all the way low.

I'm currently playing on a Panasonic CF-29 tough book. CPU 1.6, RAM 1024, Vid card 128... I play resolution at 1024 x 768 and have no trouble playing on this system.

I have a Thinkpad z60M widescreen with an ATI mobile card that plays AH2 well.

I am using a Dell Inspiron 9100 and it handles everything AH throws at it.
But... Heat is a problem. I have to point a table fan at the back of the laptop to keep the frame rate from suffering badly when flying Aces High.
I am Not too happy with that.

Well...
I took off the air vent things and found loads of lint clogging up the cooling fins. After removing all that stuff it is running cool with no external fan. I am happy again.

Yeah, had to do that you my girls almost 3 years old toshiba. She told me it kept shutting down on her and I took a look at it. It was and I also noticed the CPU fan was working really really hard. So i removed part of the back and found load of dust clogging the exhaust.
It's all better now.

Hey Fulmar,
mmmm... wonder how many others are having the same problem using laptops to fly Aes High.
The Inspiron 9100 has three  cooling fans and they sequentially kick in as things get progressively intense such as low alt ground attack with Zoom View turned on and a lot of ack and defenders flying.
So fustrating to have the frame rate go squat just as you line up on a string of field guns and you're getting acked and cant get a shot in to stop it. grrrr
Hopefully now that I know what the problem was I can stay ahead of it.
It was like the laptop was on WEP too long. lol
Other than that heat problem, which is now fixed, I have really liked using this laptop to fly; its very powerful... has two seperate microprocessors and a very healthy video system. :aok
Glad this thread was here, it spurred me on to checking out the problem.

I think a good laptop would be the one that dissipates heat quickly efficiently so you can play longer.

I was about to give up on my 4 year old Sony Vaio, it generated too much noise and heat while running.
By luck, I found out that the fan was full of dusts. My vaio ran like new after I removed the dusts:aok
