Lately, I've been exploring other aspects of the game other than aircraft. I ask the question here because I do not know the answer, and there is so much to learn about this game. A lot of stuff I learn trial and error and I find quite a few "knowledgeable" people do not know what they are talking (typing) about.
I captured a vehicle base solo by eliminating the field guns in one sortie then returning with troops via the half-track troops carrier. I took no hangers down. Why so much effort by others? I always enter the field from only one entry point and my method will elliminate those guns in 5 minutes, if nobody is home. I did this EW & MW.
I was on V2 in one of the LW arenas. I took the guns down solo, nobody was home. I needed assistance and requested it via type-in-country radio to bring troops. Blue arena was critical within one capture to win the board. I was told by a Fortune 500 scorer that V2 is uncapturable. He said the red squares were off limits. Is this guy pulling my chain? Or are some bases off-limits to being capturable? Are LW arenas under different rules?
Too bad there is not more teamwork to capture the board, instead of the endless insanity of the furball.
Thanks to the trainers and to those that have been helpful and not mean spirited about it.

Yes, they were correct. The bases that are outlined with a red square are unable to be captured.

""you see others putting in a lot of effort only when there is someone defending. it is surprisingly easy for only 1 or 2 defenders to hold off a fairly sizeable attack. myself, and others in my squad have taken bases on our own.......but as i stated only when un-defended.....a defender comes out...then ya have to eliminate hin AND get the troops in before he re-ups..which requiers a bit of help. or you can simp;y drop the hangars.""

""in all of the arenas, if you look at the map, you'll see some bases....some V bases, and some airfields, that are outlined in red box. in all of the arenas, on all of the maps, these bases are not capturable. you CAN however, pork the troops, or ordinance, or any asset on these bases, to make it more difficult for your enemy to use them."""
Too bad there is not more teamwork to capture the board, instead of the endless insanity of the furball.
""look in EW, and sometimes in MW for anyone in the Hired Guns........ some of the 68 guys work with us sometimes,,,,and i think a couple members of the checkertails do too.....we do use teamwork very effectivly in battle. those of us that saren't very good in GV's will bomb, and then fly as eyes in the sky for our squadies, or offer air support, or even in cannon equipped aircraft, we'll straffe ground targets to help the guys down there.""
Thanks to the trainers and to those that have been helpful and not mean spirited about it.
""thankfully, most of the "mean spirited dopes don't come to EW or MW...although there's quite a few of the LW guys that've come there that are FUN to fight with and against.......and they offer help whenever they can too..""
hope to se ya there soon,

some people like to furball, not land grab...to each his own.

All bases used to be capturable until the whiners cried long enought that HT decided to make a select few on each map uncapturable

That's not correct. The uncapturable bases came together with the change of the war winning criterias (=get enough bases from both countries). And thus, they were neccessary.

Thanks.
I will look you up.
I'm loyal as long as you are winning. I have no flag. I like the perk points. Guess I am a mercenary.

Daubi, what the guy told ya is true, bases with the square around it are not capturable. It was done that way to give the team down to its last few bases some place to attack from, other wize some of the "land grabbers" would be in there trying to completely shut them down. If it was your team, it wouldn't be too much fun would it?
As to this line Too bad there is not more teamwork to capture the board, instead of the endless insanity of the furball. In years past, this game was designed as a "flight Sim" so that people could fly and fight each other in the air, NOT capture the map. More stuff was added to make fights more interesting, and the "capture the map" part of the game was born. So alot of old timers enjoy the fighter part of the game and only do that. Don't knock how other play the game, it is highly frowned on by MOST people when other plays "milkrun" and capture bases by themselves in EW, and MW :D

"I captured a vehicle base solo by eliminating the field guns in one sortie then returning with troops via the half-track troops carrier. I took no hangers down. Why so much effort by others?"
You answered your own question ...
"I always enter the field from only one entry point and my method will elliminate those guns in 5 minutes, if nobody is home. I did this EW & MW."
You proably took that field from a country that only had 1 to 5 players ... WTG ... :aok ... milk-running is the bomb !!!
I have over 28,000 fighter perks ... I wish I could give you some so that you could forego the need for "points" and actually learn to really play this game.
"Too bad there is not more teamwork to capture the board, instead of the endless insanity of the furball."
That's a pretty strong and biased remark coming from someone who doesn't really know all the aspects and rules of the game. I guess you are suffering from some parrot syndrome (repeating what you hear). There is nothing insane about air-to-air combat ... it is what this game was created for ... not milk-running empty arenas so you can get "points".
Being so new and this being the Help and Training Forum, you should have just asked your question and left your opinions at the door

I didn't do anything to insult you, why are you trying to do so with me?
A lot of stuff said in here would not be said within my fist range in real life. You still have your front teeth?
Wrong! Late war arenas about 3 AM NY time, two or three nights ago. You were probably sleeping.
What the F is milk running and I guess you mean it to be derogatory. Why? I grew up in south Florida in the 1950's. There is no room in the USA for prejudice issues. Period. Your mentality is showing.
How did I answer my own question?
Really play this game? Please define. Does everybody in here agree with you and why am I still here if I violated HTC's TOS?
I rather doubt you'd give me anything but a knife in my back when I am not looking. Any other sport a real man comes at you face 1st, not from behind.
I am entitled to my opinions on this private board as long as HTC says I am not violating their TOS. HTC wants to pull the plug---go ahead. There are other games and other donkeys such as yourself with prejudiced points of view. Road rage on e-mail boards is how I see it and school-yard bullying.
For sure, if noobies such as I were to leave it would make you pro's job such as yourself a lot more difficult trying to get the better players in your gunsights. Me and alot of others here are just meat on the table to guys such as you---to a point. I'm getting better, soon I will be a threat. You and a lot like yourself were obviously born with the talent. Of those 100,000 perk points you got, how many were guys such as the trainer crew? How many were green noobies?
You won't scare me away, so back off.
If I am violating some kind of ethics code, please LEADERSHIP here, tell me so.
Ren told me this particular board was more sensitive to beginner issues. He was wrong.
I read Kylander's book. The furball is insanity. He says so. I bet you would not last 5 seconds with that guy in pseudo-aerial combat.
Real live aerial combat? All you guys in here would all be dead!! ALL BE DEAD! You don't get a second chance at it. Yeah, right. Audie Murphy had gonads. He was also very lucky.
Ever do militay? Ever FU govt. property? You don't go get another plane just like that. There is a review board. You might very well find YOURSELF doing milk runs in Alaska. You might be out on your ear flying for CBS news instead, wings taken away.
Oh, you mean cartoon aerial combat. Ah, there you go.
Now, feel properly verbally assulted. Another shthd added to my collection.

Pretty pathetic.

Daubie,
"Milkrunning" is a phrase that in this game means "easy". One of the big complaints right now is with the arena set up as it is the scoring means nothing. You, yourslef could spend a day or two capturing bases in EW, or MW by yourself like you mentioned you did in the first post, and would have a pretty good GV score.
However, if you were really honest with yourself, you'd know you really weren't that good a GVer, anyone with a bit more experiance could use tactics and terrain to forever take you out and you would never get a single base, let alone get close enough to take out the guns.
Your question was "are the red outlined bases uncapturable?". Had you stopped there you would have been ok, instead you continued on with "bad mouthing" the lack of co-operation when requesting team-mates to work a base with you, and also the "milkrunning", which is concidered a dweeb move.
Coming onto these boards and typing with an "atitude" will get you blasted more often than not, and exsample would be your post got Slap going, and Slaps post got you going.
Some of us have been here a long time, and whats new to you is very old to us. Also some of us age better :D

A lot of what I say is reverse psychology just to see what is said.
Maybe I believe what I said, maybe not. One way to get an answer to a question is to not ask it directly. Not necessarily good cop / bad cop.
All my fighter scores were in LW, both arenas. I don't care whether anybody believes it. My bombing sorties were almost all torpedo runs in Ju-88's 20 feet off the deck and also in LW. I got me a few CV's this tour. I furball, hit and run in FW's. I also am up high above, perpendicular doing CAP over the mambo line to and fro the various bases looking for guys short on gas, burning, unaware, whatever. I'm out on the fringe beyond the radar circle, not vulching over a base. Very productive. I'm learning. Kylander's book.
I run solo, so I doubt I'll ever team with anybody except in special events where I am invited. Yes, rare it is and unbelievable a sour soul such as myself actually gets invited, even more than once.
I will refrain from posting here and just read. Now to read Shaw's book. I got them both to Amazon.
Thanks for the input.

LOL!!! Psychology is lost on most folks here! Just be strait forward, ask your question in the help threads as best ya can and you'll get good, honest answers. The other threads in the "General" area.... well its a crap shoot, and a free for all there ! ALMOST anything goes, and can be expected !
