Hi

The clip board map must be:
- 1024*1024 size. I don't know how 512*512 or 2048*2048 works. *
- indexed / 256 color
- bitmap (.bmp) format
- named after your terrain
- placed to the terrain folder and texsrc folder

*(edit)
I made some tests

Here is ingame 2048*2048 CB-map picture (cropped naturally)

For the comparison, the jpg version from 2048*2048 test CB-map

XJazz, I think what Rogerdee was saying is that when he uses the "Make Map" feature, it generates a "blue" image.

yes all i get is just a blue image for the clipboard map.

but as i said if i do it on my other pc with the old version of TE it makes the map perfect.

Do not make CBMs 2048x2048... your video card may handle it, not everybody's will.

CC, Den & Rogerdee.

Dux, I compose and render a test CB-map in Blender and build a non-public test terrain.

My aged GF4 Ti4200 64M vid RAM card didn't went to the knees, but map size went up from 1.8M to 4M...

I know YOU know, Jazz... I'm just reminding the general public not to go there, per Skuzzy's advice. Sometimes posting what an advanced user does can be a very bad influence to a newbie... they don't understand why or when it was done, they only remember that someone did it that way.

First see it the clipboard map is showing your land masses.

Open the .bmp with windows or paint, you should see the land masses.

It's probably the zoom in the Editor, click the clipboard map and use your scroll wheel to zoom. Also, you can move away from the ground using shift+right click and drag.

no the bitmap for the map just shows up a hazy light blue.

it doesnt show any land massses at all even when i follow all the instrutions.

Funny thing i didn't have this problem with the old version of the terrain editor!!!!

what i did do was do the work on one pc  then make the bitmap on the other pc usion the earlier version of TE ,the bad news is that now my other pc has been corrupted by some bugger with a virus and i got to format the bloody thing.

so guys do u think i should redownload the  new version of TE and see if it will make the clipborad map this time around,or is there anything else i can do.

From the test, opening the map.bmp outside the TE, your copy of the TE is clearly porked so yes, save your terrain files and reinstall the latest version of the TE.

Ok I think I know your problem.   You need to convert the map made by the Terrain Editor to 256 colors and rename it to what ever you call your map.   It will then show up properly in the TE.    When your ready to create your map to use in the game, create a folder called texsrc and place a copy of the converted map in that folder.  Then build your map.  Hope this helps.

the bitmap that is made when u press map maker just shows blue as if it was just water.converting it to 256 colors doesnt do a damn thing there justs is not any terrain shown on the bit map.

It seems either you messed something up while "Building" the map, or there is a bug. :(

When you press the create map on the menu it creates a map called Map.bmp.   This is the default name, but to use it you need to change the name and convert it to 256 colors.   For example, if you call your map "AMap" then you need to change the name of "Map.bmp" to "AMap.bmp" to make appear in the TE.    Unless you do both you will not see the map in the TE.

You didn't perhaps make just an Island that's very small when you look at the map.

I did

I am a bit confused here....your saying you made the map on your current machine, then transfered the map to your old machine to create the bitmap for the terrain?   If it's the other way around, then I would say use the convert option on the file menu to bring the map up to the latest TE standards.   But if I am correct in my understanding of how you did it, you might have to delete the TE plus delete the left over directory (saving your map of course) and start all over.   One last question, if you create a new map does it display the map after one is created?   If you still are having problems and would like, PM me and I will get with you and try your map on my system.

I'm having trouble with me clipboard map as well. Although, it's a very strange problem. When I make the map, it cuts off the excess of the squares and puts it in another place.
