Hi. I'm Shoshonni.
My husband, Gaidin, got me hooked on this game (well the off-line version of it anyway.)
I have yet to try to play on-line. (Yah I'm terrified of it!)
I love to blow things up, so I'm hoping I get guts enough to go where the real fun is soon!

Welcome :)
I think she was referring to Gaidin's inflatable sheep Vans.
-
forget to mention I'm not shy and I never can back down from a dare? :p
*runs off to add that to her sig*

I dare you never to post here again :t

I think its excellent that Gaidin's wife likes AH! :)
Shoshonni, I hope you end up liking the on-line portion as well.
Also, there is a scenario coming up that will have B-24's and B-17's. It is probably going to run sometime in October. I hope you end up playing in that one.

would just be stupid. I am neither stupid nor am I easily baited. :)

I heard! Gaid's told me 4 times already. My joystick and I are currently having issues however, as I have small hands and cannot find a stick small enough to accommodate my grip. (Yah, I suspect Vans will jump right on that one. Stick. grip. go for it. )
If anyone happens to know of any place I could find a joystick designed for smaller hands, that would be lovely!

I have relatively small hands, too - and the best I've found so far is the CH Fighterstick. I then cut a piece of foam from a camping mattress and taped it on top of the hand rest on the handle.
I tried the Sytek Cyborg at one time, which had an adjustable hand rest. I liked that feature, but hated the sloppiness of the stick itself.
Good luck finding something that fits - and welcome to the game.

If you can ever locate a Microsoft Sidewinder Pro Force Feedback, that is a very very durable joystick. I use one currently and have had it ever since I had a 486 DX25, well over 10 years old and never glitches. My hands are not big and this joystick is not cumbersome and full of 50,000 switches and buttons you probably will never use. I have the force feedback unhooked from the a/c adapter and use mine that way, ie no centering springs or anything, the handle literally flops around. It makes it very nice to shoot when I get in a GV and go to tanktown.
One bad thing tho is since it wont center itself when you let go is if you are on autopilot it can drift out of center and lose autopilot. But I am used to it and like the way it works very much.
I dread the day when it ever quits.
PS welcome to AH

the X52 has an adjustable hand rest might want give it a try.
Btw,stop by the training arena,ya dont have to worry about short sorties there.

Hey Sho, come see me in the TA sometime!
Heck you can even set a "date" if that works better. (Wink)
Lets see if we can't get you blowing chunks off planes first and worry about picking up names later. :)
-
Welcome Sho :)
I look forward to shooting you down.

Good hunting.
ST290 isn't a bad stick and very affordable at just $20 from WalMart, been using mine for a couple of years now and no problems, not even needed to recal like I did on a regular basis with the Evo.
