Take off approximately 9:15 PM EST and
climb to 25k in B-17s (possibly
with P-51's as escorts) and head into Rookland.
Achtung! Achtung!
Many Americanischen bombers entering Fatherland.
Altitude: high
Numbers: unknown
As you know, the war effort has turned desperate. We must stem the tide of barbaric intruders at all costs! Already they are at our gates, and our women and children will be their next prize. The Fatherland calls all it's brave young men to sacrifice to the fullest!
Your squadron commanders will brief you.
That is all.

Kieren, will you guys be flying Knights? I may be able to steal away for an hour tonight.

Actually, this is Rojo's plan that was intercepted! Just calling out to my brave Arian brothers!
Maybe you code-crackers can decipher the point of origin? Intelligence reports point to the "Special Events" forum... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
BTW, I will fly on the low side, whichever side that is- ain't no game without players! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

My God Knight getting Organized for an attack Rook land.........Well I just might have to grab my 190 and go stir things up a bit. I am sure the whole "Wrecking Crew" will be there to stop this infidels' attack. See you in the Skies. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

While I'm please to see all the fervor this mission has aroused, I must ask for some cooperation and consideration from the community. If you'll read the original post, "Big Buff Mission Tonight," you'll see the objective is to create a historical and balanced match up. Specifically, I'm trying to arrange a nice fat Buff formation for the Tour of Duty (TOD) special fighter unit to intercept (flying for Luftwaffe), as part of their series of missions - see below for more detail on what TOD is all about. Our intent is not to affect the strategic balance in the arena.
Assuming we can put together a bomber formation (with escort) of sufficient size, I would be happy to add some non-TOD pilots to fly for the Luftwaffe. After all, how could I deny such an inviting target to all those German iron acolytes (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif). We just want to maintain some kind of balance, since we don't have a special events arena yet. I'm going to be asking over the open channel that non-participant stear-clear of the action, as a courtesy. Everyone's cooperations is much appreciated, and will make the experience richer for all. Thanks.
For those who aren't familier with TOD, this is a series of pre-planned fighter missions people can register for. Each pilot must complete at least five of the 12 missions to receive a campaign ribbon, and its ONE-LIFE-TO-LIVE! If you die, you're out for the rest of the missions. So far, no one has earned their ribbon yet, and we've no aces yet either. Tonight's mission is #6. Because of the dramatic impact virtual death can have on the TOD pilots, expect a more realistic and conservative attack by the Luftwaffe.
Rojo (Sabre, in AH)
P.S. Hope no one takes this the wrong way (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif).

I think it is a good idea, and a fine example of how we (the community) can help shape the sim. Bravo!
Sounds like you need targets, so I will count on buffing (unless I am otherwise instructed).

Cobra I'll talk to the crew and see what's what.

Hang strolls out on the tarmac towards "Mom's Favorite", his parked P51D. The plane captain, observing his approach reaches into the bottom of his roll-away and pulls out a cold can of Rolling Rock; pops the top with his church key and hands it to Hang, with a question in his eye.. "...tonight??"
Hang takes a long pull; looks up at the darkening skies; then down to the tarplin spread on the ground festooned with the belts of ammo to be fed to the guns after they are wiped and inspected. He glances up at the opened engine side cowl, and looks again at the grease streaked plane captain with a question oh his own unspoken. "yah, Hang.. she'll be ready." There is no doubt, only certainty in his voice.
Hang finishes the beer; hands back the empty can. He smiles. "I dunno Skip. Seems something big is brewin in knitland. The rooks are in an uproar; and bish HQ is issuing standby orders and boosting border caps. The LW elements are also settin up for something and when they get up; I get an itch. Word has it the knights will he hosting an all out B17 raid to parts unknown."
Just then; the ground trembles with the sound of Merlins on full WEP; their eyes swing back up to the sky as 4 P51's flash past on their way to the war. As they dwindle in the distance, Hang, smiling now; turns back to the crew dog.
"Thanks Skip. I'll tell em we're ready. If they need us, and yer willin, then we go to knitland tonight for escort duty with the knits B17 group against the LW. If anybody needs me; tell em ta shout me up on common tonight. I'll be around."
Hang turns to head back toward the ops shack; takes a few steps, and turns back. "...and fer crissakes, get ridda that pisswater beer in that overgrown suitcase before the IG spots it."
Hang is ready. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
