My squad make J and L key turns, what does this mean please? I also dont have the keys configured can someone explain how they should be set up?
-
Rudder trim keys. When in auto pilot, you can add more trim. Auto pilot basically keeps you at speed or level by adjusting your trim. So, you can tweak auto-mode by adding more trim. It SHOULD return to normal after you let go.
I don't use it so much.
-
So is it that it is a good way to change direction when flying in formation?
-
Not really. For smooth rudder only turns in bombers, just jump to any gunners position while in auto pilot and use your standard rudder control there. I would recommend going to nose gunner, then hitting F§ for external view. When now applying rudder, you can see how smooth your 3-buff formation is turning.
-
I mean formation as in 6 or more planes so I assume if you just press the key you all turn at same rate.
-
I would still prefer to use the "gunner" method, it's pretty easy to stay in formation that way especially when using external view.

Yes, the rudder trim is what you use to make adjustments when in formation using auto-pilot. This is for formation flying with out pilots.

Or ya can just jump in F6 and use left or right stick, which translates to rudder
