We are going to try something new with Der Grosse Schlag (http://ahevents.org/pacific-theatre/current-or-next-scenario.html) the next scenario in Aces High.
We are going to try and have historical skins for all the units involved.
Fortunately a good number of the units are already represented. However there are a few that need to be filled in on the American side.
Below is a list.
339th Fighter Group P-51D/P-51B None available
353rd Fighter Group P-51D/P-51B None available
355th Fighter Group P-51D/P-51B One available
P-51B - 355FG/354FS by MachNix
389th Bomb Group B-24J None available
If anyone has a desire to do add some P-51Ds and P-51Bs to fill up these slots or a P-51B for the 357th FG in Fall of 1944 colors please state your intentions in this thread.
We would like the Skins ready and submitted in time to be added to the game for the September 1, 2007 Skin update.
Also, below is a list of the Bomb Units that will be in play. Feel free to create any skins to add to the ones available as the slots are not filled on these plane types.

I will be conviniently 'sick' from work every saturday of this frame so as to fly the 303BG/359BS "The Floose" B-17G. The history of that skin just BEGS me to fly it :)

Friday: Concert all night with Ashlee
Saturday: Flying with Ashlee
Sunday: Sleeping
Monday: Sick
Tuesday: All night with Ashlee
Wedensday: All night with Ashlee
Today: At my dad's so im using his crappy computer.
I will be up and flying MAYBE sunday... im not sure, ive got a WHOLE lot of stuff coming up. Just got a $3,000 scholarship to flight school, my dad just joined a busness partnership and bought a plane, ive got a job now on the other side of the island, and Ashlee's parents are letting her off of 'restriction' to see me, so ive got a whole lot going on.
BTW, do you know the history of that skin? (The Floose)

Looking forward to flying with you Serenity, now can you two please take this to PMs and quit hijacking this thread?

Just in case theres a way for them to include it for the scenario, I'm doing up a November '44 specific P-51B for the 4th. Lt. Ayers P-51B-5-NA 43-6518, QP-K. NMF, Malcom hood, red rudder, D-Day stripes on underside of the tail only, black ID stripes on wings and H-Stabs.
I'm working from a profile, so if anyone has any photos to share that would help, it would be greatly appreciated. Just PM me or e-mail me of you have my address.
The profile and info I am working from shows it as K not K, but thats one of the reasons photos are needed.

Except for mino tweaking and lining up of panels and markings on the tail, shes done. Any more Ponies? The more generic the better, a whole formation of gawdy nosearts and flashy paintjobs just looks weird to me.

Found photo proof of its existence at the proper time too.

Looks fine Treize, but we could use other groups rather than the 4th.
-
Thats what I mean by requests. As in give me ideas for examples from other units to do. Preferably Bs, but I could try and get into a D or two.
Ive found a bunch of profiles for the 339th, 353rd and 355th, but don't know what ones would be accurate to November of '44. Profiles have no info as far as when the plane depicted is shown.
For example, was the 353rd wearing the long or short checkerboards at that point?

Serenity, check the photo again. Your tail code is too small in size. Needs to be taller and a bit wider, so that proportionately it matches the photo.
EDIT: ALso the codes are too high. K Q P should have their tops aligned with the top of the bar (in the "star and bar") but extend well above it. Also the underline on the K almost wraps around the bottom on the photo but yours is well above that. Just shift all the codes down and see if that fixes it. They look to be the proper size, just wrong position.
EDIT2: Correction, it's a combination of codes and star. The codes should barely not touch the radio compartment window, and the star should be a bit higher on the fuselage.
-
I have held off saying anything since no one was working on the Allied Skins..
However, I would hold off doing any Mustangs. There was an agreed to plan that has since been put on hold.
Please stand by until things get sorted out.

"Serenity"?
Kinda hard to take your detail criticism seriously when you can't even read who posted it in the first place.

LOL! Had to read that twice to figure it out...

Glad to see he did that to someone else. He does it to me all the time by calling me Fester.
Treize,
Your invasion stripes on the fusalage do not match the photo.
-
Yes, I'm sorry. Was sorta looking at the avatar more than the name with it....

:rofl
Heh, I can relate. Very very few get mine right on Vox, that's understandable, but everyone should be able to look to the left at the name and type it correctly.
Stampf, not Stamp.
A Stamp is an instrument of postal tax that is applied in the top right corner of a parcel of mail.
Stampf, my call sign, is the first 6 letters of my name and is pronounced:
Shhhhhhhh.....TOM.......PFFFF FFFFFFF.
Carry on.

The stripes are part of the "lining up" I mentioned. I was mainly trying to get them sized right first, now Im tweaking it little by little to get them in the right place. Its a pain in the oscar when I have to flatten about 90 layers to check on a 5-pixel movement...
I don't know if its a model issue or what, but when I move the codes it just doesnt look right. They look way too low and lopsided, like someone who'd never seen where they normally go slapped them on. And none of my fonts match the style used on the SN#, and when I try to stretch them to match they look horribly distorted and much worse than having them a bit too small. Way too pixelated, if that explains it. And I originally had the _ down lower, but half of it disappeared on the shape of the tail or under the section mapped for the underside. The tail shape is enough "off" to be a pain sometimes, just look at the size and location of the tail wheel door on the screenie and the pic to see what I mean. The curves and sizes don't quite match, so I keep running into issues like that.
Biggest pain is that there are so many layers that I spend more time flattening and converting now than I do actually moving and reshaping codes and stripes. Gimp takes FOREVER to work with in layers, god I miss photoshop!

I found 2 from the 339th I'd like to do, one B and one D. Both relatively simple but colorful.

I told people to NOT work on 51 skins for the event.
Until I hear further from Pyro there is no need.
