Title: Tank suggestions
Post by: Ace8765 on July 05, 2007, 09:14:12 PM
Because there are only a few tanks on AHII, i was coming up with a list of tanks that could be added for a better experience. I mean when you play you only see 2 tanks being played (Tigers and Shermans). Yes i do know its called Aces High but still its a WWII battlefield and it should be as realistic as possible

M26 Pershing
King Tiger
Comet
Crocidile
Churchill
Panther
Stalin-II (dont know proper name sry =[ )
StumTiger (Massive tiger tank with a Navel cannon)
M18 Hellcat
StugIII (Anti Tank gun)
M5 Stuart
Pz2
Panzer MKIII

thats my list... plz comment.            AND PLZ STAY ON TOPIC

Before anything else -- how could you NOT list the Wirbelwind?????

After the Wirbelwind, I would like to see the earlier armor filled out before adding a bunch of late war uber-tanks . . . or at least armor that would be significantly different than what we already have in the game.

Pershing -- in game terms, not too different from the Tiger.
King Tiger -- eh, very rare, I personally could do without it.
Comet -- again, in game terms, not much different than the Firefly.
Crocodile -- no need for a flame-throwing tank.
Churchill -- many variants to choose from.  Slower than the current set, very heavy armor, relatively weak weapon -- would at least add variety.
Panther -- would love to see it, heavily perked.
Stalin JS-II (or IS-II) -- Large HE shell, but again, hard time seeing the difference in game terms vs. the Tiger (except for the inferior optics).
Sturmtiger -- not really.  I thought it was more an experimental vehicle.
M-18 Hellcat -- Sure.
StGIII -- I would prefer the Hetzer myself, but there are a wide array of assault guns to choose from, and the StGIII would be as good as any.
M5 Stuart -- Yes.

If I ruled the universe, aside from immediately smiting my enemies, I would add a few variants of the Sherman first (early M4 with the 75mm, M4A3 with the 76mm gun, one of the 105mm variants, perhaps the Calliope) because you get some decent variety off the same chassis.

Then I would add a few more PzkwIV variants (C, D, and F versions) for the same reason.

Then maybe the T-34/85.

Then the truly early war tanks such as the PzkwIII, Pzkw 38(t), Matilda, Crusader, BT-7, T-26, S-35, Char-b1, M-3 Grant/Lee and M-3 Stuart. . . not necessarily in that order.

Nope, what we have in game is the "3.7 cm Flak 43 auf Flakpanzer IV "Ostwind". We need the "Wirbelwind "Whirlwind" with the 4x 2cm FlaK 38.

I dont know if my source is wrong but the production numbers for the "Ostwind" is around 50, but the "Wirblewind's" numbers are around 225. As I said I dont know if the numbers are right but if they are I think our ostwind should be made into a wirblewind.

Greetings,

Perhaps instead of immediately going to the Wirblewind, perhaps we should start with something a bit, shall we say, lighter and more stately... and there were 300+ of them produced.

  Just a thought.....

M4 with those prototype rocket pods? Enough Battlefield 1942 secret weapons for you.  I'd rather have a Preist than a katyusha, better damage amounts.  Why Hanomag?  Which was the one the germans used in Africa?

Actually the Sherman "Calliope" was employed..just not very many of
them.

The Hanomag was the main Wehrmacht halftrack during the entire war
with at least 22 variants .

Not that any of these would be very useful with tanks capable of hitting
things beyond 3200 yards.

We definetly need more British tanks.

I think the following would be good enought:

A12 Matilda II - 1 x 40mm main gun (67 rnds); 1 x 7.92 in BESA coaxial MG
A22 Churchill Mk III - 1 x 57mm main gun (57 rnds); 2 x 7.92 ^ mg
*A34 Comet - 1 x QF 77mm main gun (61 rnds); 1 x coaxial+1 x hull ^ mgs

Then American Tank:

M3 Grant/Lee - too many weapons to list(making it a beast):t

These are just some of my suggestions...i think all of them were already listed but thought I'd chime in with some info:aok

petrol engine (340hp @ 2400 rpm)

Perfomance: road speed 26mph; cross-country speed 16mph' range 120 miles; trench 6.3ft; gradient 60%

Ground Pressure: 13.4lb/sq in

Power-to-Weight: ratio 12.7hp/ton

Armour: 0.5in minimum; 1.5in maximum

Weapons: 1 x 75mm M2/M3 gun(hull sponson); 1 x 37mm M5/M6 gun in turret; 1 x 0.30in M1919A4 coaxial MG; 2 x 0.30in M1919A4 MG in bow(fixed mounting)

I also have specifics on other tanks....but not many.

Does anyone know of a book that has nothing but WW2 aircraft and Ground vehicles in it? (preferibally one that has most of the planes and tanks that were in WW2...not just the ones that had a major effect)

A website would do fine too:aok

you talked about the M18 hellcat.

I would be for it other than the problem would be that it was lightly armored and had a vey small tank shell which was a 70mm round it could only blow up in the face of the tiger or panther.

we wont have it for that reason

ahem 76mm with HVAP rounds?  Thing is with most US tank killers is they sacrificed armor for speed. 45mph is good and all but not when a M8 can kill you with one or two hits.

Tbarone and I did precisely that for most of yesterday.  I had a blast dropping 500kgers from my 110 of love into the cupola of the aces low crowd and preventing the recapture of several bases simultaneously.

any of the 251 series Hanomags would be a good addition  as an alternative to the LVT or the  M3  for troops   could have an armament package as well   some were dedicated pak vehicles others air defence  maybe add the 2.5 ton six wheel truck  to cover the soviet  troop carrier soft skinned and pretty useless in the light of the  mentioned 3600 meter main gun range   as far as tank destroyers the m 36 would be a nice addition 90 mm but a lightly armored turret

First, I'd like to know why the German 88mm FlaK36 (http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=198029&highlight=German+88mm)  did not make the list.  Long range, direct fire 88mm plus long range indirect artillery, plus manned puffy ack ability to over 30K altitude.

Second, whenever I see long wish lists, I remember that we've had 12 additions in the past 37 months.  Three in the last 20 months.

04/2007 ver 2.10 Added Sherman Firefly
11/2006 ver 2.09 Added F4UA1
03/2006 ver 2.07 Added the Jeep, B-17 updated
11/2005 ver 2.06 Spit and 109 lineup changes: Added Bf 109G-14, Spitfire XVI, Spitfire VIII. Changed the 109G-10 to a 109K-4. Changed the Spitfire Vc to a Vb
07/2005 ver 2.04 P47N (?)
01/2005 ver 2.02 Added P38 F (? later G) and J
11/2004 ver 2.01 Added B24J, T34, and Ki84
06/2004 ver 2.00
before that was Beta

How realistic is it we'll get a long laundry list of additions?

50mph btw and it can kill tigers very fast with HVAP rounds
