Title: Rudder Pedals...Which One?
Post by: LongCut on July 07, 2007, 01:26:06 PM
I'm either going to buy the CH or the Saitek. Any opinions on the two?
Thanks

I've heard the Saitek are new but no slouch. They're more comfortable (being wider spaced) and more realistic (being wider spaced) but as for reliability: I can't say. I haven't got 'em.

I love CH Products pedals and joysticks, enough so that I've been using them for about 15 years.

CH Pro Rudders.

I've been using a 'gameport' version of the CH Pro Rudders for close to 10 years, and they haven't failed me yet. All I do is clean them. They're still working just fine. I finally decided to upgrade to USB and finally get some Toe-Brakes.

I finally ordered mine last week from securemart. Unfortunately it looks like what a number of their X-customers say is true.

Although I ordered in on the 3rd, and was told it should ship by no later then the 6th, I found out on the 9th, that it never shipped at all.

The Customer service rep, was great! He apologized for the screwup and said it would be sent out that day 'Overnight', so I would have it the next day.

Unfortunately securemart's management decided that was being too nice, and the rep called back within 30 minutes to say that mangement refused to ship 'Overnight', but instead would ship 'Economy second day'. That means I probably won't get my pedals until Thursday at the earliest.

I had read a number of reviews from x-securemart customers, that claimed similar problems. I also noticed that securemart charges a noticably higher shipping & Handling charge then NewEgg or Mwave or any of the other online retailers. I've decided that securemart just isn't worth the effort. They seem to care more about bottom line, then their customers.

    Don't order from securemart!

I havent found any bad reviews of the CH or saitek (except for a few freak problems with both) so I ordered the Saitek from GoGamer.com for $99.90 + $8.99 s&h for a grand total of 108.89. This is the best price I could find for either set and I have done business with GoGamer before with no problems (trackIR).
Thanks for the info!

I like the CH Pro Pedals myself, but not as much as my old Simpeds from the gameport days of yore...ah, the days before USB.

Does the Saitek have a Ka-chunk centering spring like the CH does, or is it as bad?
