Bought me a brand spanking new Canon Powershot S3 1S early this afternoon. Went to the local airshow and got these.
I have these and more in large size/high resolution also if anyone wants a better picture.
Does picturehanger have a limit on the size of the pictures? Their normal size is 2816 x 2112 (gotta fix that)

Last one is the instrument panel of the Su-26 (red one). Some of the instruments are still in russian

I flew with the Husband/Wife that own the blue top Extra 200. N9PB. Twas my first introduction to aerobatics at the Ohio Aerobatics Open in 2002. Good people for giving a humble line guy a couple rides :D
At the time she was pretty new to aerobatics and he flew intermediate class. That was a while ago but I'm glad to see they still have the airplane.
I'll have to dig up the picture they took for me. I saw it at my folks house last time I was home to visit.

Quick question........the triangular frame type thing at the wingtip of the red/blue aerobatic plane, what is that?/what does it do?
-
Pilot visual reference cue with the horizon.
-
If you look they all of the aerobatic aircraft are equipped with a similar device.

Why is that one guage upside down?
-
I'm interested in the Pitts with the radial engine. What model is that? I've never seen a Pitts with a radial, or is that a custom job?
-
The upside down insturment is an accelerometer...a "G" meter. Tells you how many +/- G's you're pulling and also has a mechanical needle that stays put on the highest/lowest mark until manually reset.
The radial Pitts is a Model 12. It's designed to be used with a 400hp Vedeneyev engine. Pretty much cream of the crop as Pitts' designs go. I've got a poster of a Model 14 but I have never even seen one completed if it even made it that far.
If you look real close at the tails of each Model 12 you can see it says as much in small block lettering.

So you can read it when you're flying upside down, duh. ;)
Nice pics.
-
Is it upside down on purpose so as to not confuse it with another gauge?
-
Most G gauges don't go all the way to -10G, so normally Sukhois mount one upwards and one downwards.
Sukhois are the only aerobatic airplanes that can go +-10G without a thorough inspection afterwards.
You have to tighten the bolts on the Vendeneyev M14PF after every couple of flights, but that's another story :D
