Title: AH2 Pilot Pics
Post by: swoop777 on July 18, 2007, 03:30:05 AM
Have you ever wondered what the people that are shooting you down or being shot down by you look like, well I do.  I am starting this because I am adding a link from my webpage to my photobucket account dedicated to AH2. There are currently 2 folders (let me know if you have suggestions for others) one folder is for cool screenshots and the other will be for pictures of the people that play this game we will call it pilot pics. Anyone interested send your fav pic of you to Latteral_Shift@yahoo.com please rename the pic to your callsign so we know who you are.

You can view the pics by going to http://www.freewebs.com/swoop777 follow the link in the nav bar, or you can go directly to the album by going here http://s180.photobucket.com/albums/x127/Swoop777/  there are a couple pics there already but I wanted to get the word out so I thought I would put the word out here. There is also a forum and blog in my squads personal site with some cool links and cool pics of different WWII era aircraft,  so please if you have a min please participate it will be fun.

Thanx in advance,
Swoop777

No LOL.

He was never in the service.

Heck, send him my photo and you please send me his.

One side of the family is from Ireland (left early 1800's), the other is from Scotland (left 1750's).

Odd... I am 46.  Cool coincidence?

Nope. There are a FEW black-sand-beaches, but they are rare even here. Its mostly white, like the rest of the world. (The black sand is MUCH softer, GREAT to lie in.)

This is me giving my "How to get rich selling recycled dentures" seminar at a skilled nursing facility outside of Tulsa  in 1987. I was arrested shortly after the picture was taken and brief foot chase through the cafeteria and in to the bedpan storage closet. i hasten to say that there is nothing rest of the world about the beaches here.
when i say white, i mean sugar white...not light brown or tan like alot of sandy coastal beaches of the world are.  not that i would complain about most any.

Sorry folks, I COULDN'T RESIST!

The pic is actually with me and one of the employees at the Rio in Vegas.

She's really sweet, and besides, I'm a sucker for redheads.

It's great when you go to a joint eight or nine times and the employees ACTUALLY remember you and call you by name.  Now THAT is EXTREME customer service, considering the Millions of people who come in the door every year.

It's the kind of customer service I taught my staff at my joint.

In casino marketing, your biggest asset is your STAFF.

Sure, she's lovely, but her CUSTOMER SERVICE far out-weighed her beauty.

Yes.  I'm the one on the LEFT.

P.S.  Anyone wanna see the picture of me and the Beulah Twins?

This is me giving my "How to get rich selling recycled dentures" seminar at a skilled nursing facility outside of Tulsa  in 1987. I was arrested shortly after the picture was taken and brief foot chase through the cafeteria and in to the bedpan storage closet. Apparently you have to have a license to run a pyramid scheme on the elderly in Oklahoma. Who knew? :huh

Yea, but the real trick question is WTH is that on the whiteboard!

As I recall the bottom item is a tank....Dale was a little vague on the model, but most agree it was a Expo-Sherman...with the SpArKlEr cannon upgrade.  The thing in the middle that looks like a capital 'a' is in fact a tower.....please keep in mine that it was a beta tower, so some of the textures are not complete.  The thing at the top is a flawless representation of lag.    I don't recall the details, but I believe the main point is "don't whine about lag ever again or I will turn AH into a figure 8 simulator"

This pic is a testement to the community of these goofy flight sims.  All the guys in this photo are old Airwarrior types that got together in England and then went to France.  I hadn't met any of them face to face until that trip

It was the last great thing I got to do before my kids accident in August of 2005.  This was July 2005 at the Flying Legends show at Duxford.  It was an absolutely fabulous time.

I'm in the front row with the blue shirt leaning on the green folding chair bag.

Some of the old AW types might recognize a face or two in that crowd that include folks from both sides of the pond.

I follow it casually... If it's on tv I'll definitely watch it. And as rugby isn't very big in the U.S., those occasions are rare.

Many of us in america were raised playing football without helmet and pads on.  No big deal!  Now, the debate might be, what sport, rugby or football has the highest rate of high impact hits?  :aok

hmm, good point. in american football you tend to just bash right into people, but the rules in rugby are that you need to tackle below the chest. you get a full on whack, but you need to tackle properly, you can't just shove someone like in american football.

good question actually... but rugby definitely isn't for the faint of heart. almost all of em come off the pitch bleeding somehow

Hockey has less padding than football (US). Most of it's jus taround the hips for falls because ice is MUCH harder than soft fuzzy grass with soft dirt underneath it. The same fall on a grass field might give you a bruise, but on ice it might break your pelvis.

Anyways, I used to always love those bonfil (?) bumper stickers that said "Give blood. Play hockey."

(For those across the pond, it was a blood bank)

I was just wondering.  I used to play when I was in Ireland.  Played through school and into Senior level in Northern Ireland.  I played for "City of Derry".  Been to many internationals in Dublin and a few tours in Scotland, and South of Ireland.

As the game has turned professional more players are wearing padding.  It is soft as opposed to the armour the Football players use, but it is leading to harder hits in the game.  That being said some guys that play do not need padding they need brains.  I have seen guys put their heads where I would not put my foot.

Retired now due to a back injury while playing.

SkyRock got it right.

Football (American version) was almost outlawed in the U.S. because too many people were dieing while playing.

Trust me, the padding is there for a reason.

That's sweet... I remember France won the last 6 nations, and I know the world cup is in France in September, but beyond things like that I'm pretty clueless. Definitely a lot of fun to watch, and much more exciting than soccer... The game I really wish they'd show in the U.S. more is hurling, though. Now THAT game is awesome. :D

We need some kind of RTE America...

At college I went to see a Hurling game.  It was a small affair with maybe 50 supporters.  I went for a beer and when I came back a fight had broken out.  Now this was not just the players but 75% of the supporters where on the field fighting too.

I was one of the 25% cause I had a beer in my hand :) and in Ireland you never leave one unattended or risk spilling it.

It is a brutal sport.  Sort of like Hockey, Lacrosse and bar fighting mixed toghether.

lol, hurling is awesome.

i wish some of the older, faster paced and more agressive sports were still in common use. fruitcake football (soccer) players with their insane salaries are so boring to watch.

american football can be fun but there are so many annoyingly boring waiting moments, which is why i like rugby far more, non-stop 40 min halfs with a 5 min half time.

You are correct, they are indeed Canned Hams, well done. The top and bottom are a 250, the one in the middle is a 175. I have 6 Canned Hams of various models a '69 Yamaha AT-1 125 and a '79 Maico 440.

I was leading the national championship points for 200 Expert in cross country until a couple of weeks ago when I choked and gave away two races to my nemesis. I crashed while leading both races fairly comfortably.

some of those hits were savage, but alot of them no worse than a rugby game with no padding.

rugby has the no high tackle rule though, which it seems does not count in AF.
both pro american football and pro rugby would be far too much of a beating for the average citizen, certainly.

those bikes harken days gone by for me.  I age yet the machines are ever young.  I am glad to know that they still do what they were designed to do.  it's a beautiful thing.

thanks mark!  :)

an interesting story behind that one actually...the hat belongs to a friend of mines father who passed several years ago...an old farmer that was as much my father as my own...i called him and his brother (my friends uncle) the last american cowboys.  they used to wear hats like the one pictured with denim shirts and jeans...never saw them wear anything else.

a few years ago i was visiting back home and my friend gave me that hat.  it was one of the old hats he wore.

inside of the hat, written in permanent marker it says, Texas 1976.

i am guessing that they bought it there and it had definately been worn...so i brought it home and wore it down to the beach one day.  i took that picture and send it back home with the title:  texas 1976/ emerald coast 2001.

it has a huge amount of sentimental value to me.  these were great men.

after that they broke the mold.   :(

The Mexicans wore hats like that alot here in Texas.

Farmers/Ranchers wore something like this (http://www.hatcountry.com/images/Jackal.jpg) .

Nice pic still, tells a current story and you know there are many more stories in it's past.

Hahaha.

I use a Les Paul for recording rhythm tracks to give the song more bottom-end if it is required, otherwise I find them average. The Les Paul doesn't give me the tone that I need for lead.

Les Pauls are over-rated. THIS is a real guitar.

My Telecaster has a beautiful sound that a Les Paul just can't make and my BC Richs give me the brutality that a Les Paul never could.

:lol

Les Pauls fall too far in the middle, for me.

Im 14. Gonna be 15 on August 25th. Thats taken at the museum I volunteer at. We were having a vietnam open cockpit day, and they wanted us all in costume. We were on a lunch break, I borrowed the gun, (A real one at first, but before I could take the pic, they needed to fire a few rounds to show it off, so I grabbed the fake used in the picture) and decided to take a picture for s***s-and-giggles. So, too young for military, but im planning on joining the United States Air Force as soon as I finish High School. Im doing my pilot training now, and I hope to attend the Academy and get a pilot's slot.

He's a good kid and in the times I have encountered him, he conducts himself just as any other well-mannered, friendly player would.

He's the only kid I've come across here that doesn't need to be treated like one.

So, he's young but he adds positively to the game.

I used to volunteer here at our CAV museum ~ we did the same type of thing ~ only it was Frontier life w/the CAV. Was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. :)

Recently had the chance to fly with a TA-7C Corsair, of 336 SQ in Araxos Air Force Base, near Patra Greece. Wasn’t the first time to fly with a jet aircraft, but the A-7 is a special aircraft Very stable a/c in low altitudes I mean the guys over there when they fly operationally they fly below 100 ft making terrain masking missions. The Hellenic Air Force (HAF) is now the only user of the aircraft worldwide. A-7s will replaced by 30 new F-16 Block 52+ Advanced., but HAF will keep A-7s for some time more as a lead in fighter trainer a/c Here are some pictures
