Title: Chat suspension rules
Post by: Trog on July 19, 2007, 03:33:45 PM
Can someone clarify the rules or guidelines where one would get chat suspended.

I use a headset and microphone, but when i get up to do something i'll put the game on speaker so i can hear whats going on and get back sooner if i have to.

Invariably i will hear someone cussing all over the radio after getting shotdown or just pissed off at something. More often than not my kids are in the same or adjacent room and hear, not to mention my wife too.

If i can help it i don't want THEM exposed to that kind of language, therefore i have limited the use of speakers for me in the game when they are around.

So my question is apparently you can cuss and swear on the voice radio, but can't type it on 200.......... or can u get suspended for both?

I tried to do a search on this, but did not find the answer.

Personally i have not come accross anything or anyone in the game bad enough to report, annoying yes to report no.

For the most part i have found the AH Community to be one of the most friendly and helpful bunch around.

I'll NEVER tune private vox, period.    But, I've shot down a few that cannot handle it.   They tune my vox and start swearing, showing their ignorance even more.   I'll then have to send my 5 year old out of the room.

Write down there names and send an email, preferably with a Screenshot or Film.

Only channel you should EVER, even remotely cuss on, is the Squad channel.   You can lose chat priv's for text and/or vox.

Are you threatining me?          jk.

I don,t mind any of the rough language or tauntings in game.

But because of my Wife and kids, i ALWAYS wear my headset.

(you can see my headset in the AH Pics post)

Now leave me alone!!

Trog its my understanding HTC will not post clear lines of conduct as people will just push to that line & hold. But rather handle things on an individual basis for each reported offense.

I imagine they hope most will do as you have done & find a way within your own means to eliviate the problem to a situation that is acceptable to you.

I didn't know both vox and text were monitored, i thought just text was. Thanks for clarifying. Yep i really could not find any info on chat guidelines.

Its a bit confusing to me what is allowed and what is not. The line seems very blurry.

Sometimes the chat is a bit ridiculous. The other night someone was sarcastically saying on 200 "Where is the hate? the disrespect?!" because people were being nice to each other over 200. I jokingly said STFU NEWB! and a Moderator warned me, that little pop up box caused me to crash. I laughed about the whole ordeal though, seemed rather amusing to me.

Then later you see people insulting others and using vulgar terms lightly with no repercussions.

/.report moron chat

I understood this would register a complaint at the time of the infraction of a chat violation.

/.report moron text

This one will log a report on the text, which evidently is stored and reviewable.

I have seen more than one moron gagged as a result of several reporting him/her/it.

NOTE:  The use of "moron" above is inserted where the pilot's name would go.   :)

You can report on text or vox. Just right click on the offending players name in the clipboard and report em.

From what I have heard anyone (an individual or group) who does this without a valid complaint can expect their privs to be revoked.

Of course, one would hope that a mad rush to report everyone wouldn't occur.  It should be a last resort sort of thing, for someone that's just making the arena a bad place to be.

The screen shot Daddog is showing has a nifty feature up a couple lines.  Squelch them, it's too easy.

Alot of people forget that the ones who constantly disrupt the arena are attention starved, and any attention, even the notice of the moderators and outcry from the arena is Good attention.  Getting chat suspended is more of a trophy than a penalty.

The one thing they Can't stand is being ignored, so if you Really want to get back at them, don't give the the audience they so desperately crave.

wouldnt it be great if there was some .command that would remember a persons ingame name and squelch them automatically everytime they were on-line same time as you---

How fair is it for for everyone else to have to .squelch moron every single day they play? .psquelch moron = auto squelched any/every time.

Oh wait- thats another dead horse
