I've started putting together a map for the MA and I thought I would try and gather what the community would like to see from a new MA map.
So, what would you like?
I know. TT and FT.

1. Strats that actually SIGNIFICANTLY affect gameplay...
2. Towns a greater distance from the field (To encourage people to watch the map)
3. Some fields without radar
4. No more bases built in soup bowls (Large hills covering half the runways)

TT in a layout comparable to the old one, perhaps with a way that would prevent campers from getting in close behind spawns. (Distant behind is ok by me). And a way to prevent planes from bombing in TT to include hangers. I would like to see 20 -30 Gv's in a battle, maybe a "Fulda Gap" style terrain.

Amen...I never had a problem with that strange map with the bases sometimes a sector away from the field. It took some getting used to but it was fun.

Not a big fan of this idea. In your #2 you want to encourage people to watch the map...with no radar, what would you be watching?

AMEN!!!! These maps of late have been a real bore when you have to climb to 10K+ just to get to ANY base.

REAL LOCATION maps. Yeah, Baltic Map has been played more in this game than "Stairway To Heaven" By Zeppelin has been played on the radio.
IE:
Britain/Ireland/Scotland
Russia-Poland to Stalingrad & Moscow
France/Belgium/Holland/Germany
North Africa
Pacific Islands
Italy/Sicily/Malta
Yugoslavia/Balkans/Greece
Russia/Hungary/Romania/Austria
And by COD, please don't get on here and go..."you can't have THREE countries playing...
JEEBUS! You can have a map of Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana & Michigan and split it evenly between 3 sides.
Might be a hoot to rotate in maps of areas where WWII had no battlefields, just to keep things fresh. "Whattya doin' honey"....."OH..the knights are defending Phoenix, ARIZONA...BIG ROOK dar-bar inbound.."
There USED to be an Africa map....I played on someones Russia map in H2H once. Heck, I used to host H2H (after I had signed off MA for the night) and used a map of BARBADOS.
ANYTHING is possible as long as the original guidelines are followed for strats, field placements, and other regs.
The ONLY thing I ask is...
PLEASE don't go MOUNTAIN HAPPY like just about all the maps we play on are...it's like sombody on weed sat down and threw mountains in like they were planting rice from a cropduster!
I did post my idea on how HTC could get quality maps for next to nothing some months back, but I guess it went over like a buttnuggett in a punch bowl.

Lots of bases close to each other to encourage fights.

Used to providing input on a 2 sided war in scenarios. Some of these ideas might push the MA envelope.
3 Large Landmasses on the outside of the map with many islands mixing up the middle. Road connections for vehicles, with destructable bridges (See Karelia)
Perhaps place Tsunami (See Japan) at the map edges to prevent off map shortcuts.
Push the Heavy Bombers to the large land masses, keep them off the smaller islands, and make the islands more difficult to capture by the Time involved to get the heavies there. Eliminates the quick desire for pork and auger flights. Requires a bit of strategy and team work to organize a base capture mission.
Have select, scattered bases with the more Uber Planes stationed there, so if the bases are shut down, the uber planes are out for a while, and cause people to Defend the desired planeset.

whelp...not sure bout this one.......but i think that possibly a map on which you need to destroy some or all of the actual base to capture it......maybe hangars down, etc.....but do the baase rather than the town.......none of these 10k high ridges that ya have to fly over to get to the fight, or if in a buff, then to et to target. maybe a couple of ports per side, but not as many islands as we seem to already have/?

People don't complain that..
the bases are too far apart.
the bases are too close together.
the mountains are too high.
the mountains are too low.
the spawns are too close.
the spawns are too far away.
there are not enough cv's.
there are too many cv's.
there are too many gv bases.
there are not enough gv bases.
One where people just don't complain and appreciate the fact that there is a new map to fly on.
Make that and you've made the ideal terrain for everyone. :)

I know. TT and FT.
As I understand it..... MA maps can not have a FT on them.
Check the the terrain makers forums for the do's and don'ts.
One of the big do nots is a MA map with a "fightertown"

Cav, I've pretty much scoured the Terrain Forum over the last few weeks for information about constructing terrains, but haven't seen anything that indicated that a FT was a no no.
Can you point me to a post?

Okay, since it seems no FT but yes to TT.
Center of map.
Large bowl valley. Spawn points for vehicles up hill and can race downhill in neutral to get in faster (not too steep or too far, as getting back out becomes a problem to land your kills, and no real high ground for "snipers"). Town and tiles with the small villages scattered about. Some areas of dense trees. Rolling hills and wide plains, but not so much in the way of big mountains.... except between sides.... have ridge lines separating high ground between VB's and Fields. Maybe some canyons to fly through. Not too great an elevation change though. Maybe a meandering river and bridges, they are in terrain for use now or not? Barn tiles.
A little further out, two small to medium airbases per side. Even a slightly higher elevation (maybe 2K), to lend air support to FT. Keep towns at these bases (center island) high and away from shore to make landings hard to pull off from CV's. Spawn points from VB's to threaten the surrounding Fields (up in ridges for example). Possibly locate towns between airfields and vehicle bases (not sure limitations on distance with them) and VB spawn toward town as well as toward valley.
This all on one central island, surrounded by sea.
Outer ring of large islands. Multiple fields and VB's per island, with more water surrounding them on the outside border of the map. Taking an island completely becomes a task, not a smash and grab. Wide passages between islands. Lot's of GV spawn points. More medium and large fields than small fields. Each front roughly 2 to 3 bases wide (not counting center island).... hard for sneaks and end arounds.
"Landgrabbers" and Blue Water types fight along outside ring. Furballers gravitate to center island.
Rolling hills and plains. Fewer big mountain ranges. A few canyons. 1 high (6K) rear field for each country near HQ for 163's and launching big buff raids from. Multiple GV spawn points. Rivers and bridges if tiles available at a few places, just to try out the choke point in game.

Thanks so much for your input. NHawk has summed it up. Can't have everything for everyone but I will try to get a new map together.

so all can complain about everyone playing there and no one trying to take the map!!

My attempt so far for MA map
Comments are welcome.
I want the central island to be mostly for GVs to keep the majority of the air battle being CV or island based on the perimeter. The volcano in the middle is 14K (IIRC) with a tank town in the cauldron.

Being actually added to the current rotation would be the best new map feature I could think to ask for.
From what I hear we have many new maps, just none that get added to rotation.

Id like to alot of cv action in a new map, and islands.
Another idea would be a 3 sliced pizza were all 3 are equal with a row of small islands with small airbases and/or ports on them between the 3 slices.

The map looks good.
What I would like to see in a new map:
A lot of bases close together. About 1/2 to 1/4 of radar radius between them. No freaken 8k mountains put directly in every flight path to a base. No 5k bases near 0k bases where all you do is get picked continually by incoming pickers.
High terrain is time consuming to get around or over. If players want to cherry pick fine. Let them fly to 20k. Don't force people to go that high with terrain around a field.
I hate having to fly 5 min or longer to a base. Its hard enough to get kills in this game with all the good sticks and gangbang furballs. So flying 5 min or longer to get killed immediatly is just stupid to me. Currently in a short time all the close bases are taken by a country and all that is left are the "hard" bases to take.....the ones far from each other. So no one ups there and no one takes them...so they are a waste on the map. Seems like all people want to do is "stop" a good fight....kill the cv...take the base...then what.... goof around for 30 more min waiting for a fight to evolve.
My biggest complaint about the current MA maps are the TIME it takes to get into a good fight. Make so that we can actually play the game instead of flying and flying and flying some more to get there.
I think most people play AH to dog fight anyway.
I really wish we could have a "Dog fighting" arena with these kinds of maps. I am not taling about a 3 base FT map. That sucks too cause u cant engage without being ganged. One with like 50 bases all within 1/2 radar radius betweed radar ranges. Reasonable terrain and some water.
I bet an areana like that would be full all the time.

What would be interesting...
A map with many ports (4-5) and many islands (a lot), sorta like tanktown, but more, smaller islands, all with 1-2 bases on them. The 'Main' Island would have all strats, 1 airfeild in the middle, and a port (I dont know, spurting out ideas). The most important part, instead of a large island with TT/FT in the middle, just a stretch of ocean. CV Town, if you will. Hopefully, all side would send in their ships, and CVs would intermingle, etc, etc.

I'd like a TT with uncapturable bases with airfields nearby for supt. It would be nice if they were uncapturable as well. Perhaps the airfields could be a little closer to the TT to cut down on flying time.
