Ok guys, I realize that ones rank is not necessarily indicative of a pilots skill, but how is it possible to be ranked #1 in bombers with less that 2 hours of flight time this tour, as of this post??:huh  This, to me, clouds the whole rank issue even further!:confused:

Could anybody please explain. I'm not trying to belittle or accuse anyone of anything but I really am perplexed at this point!

That's a small glitch that happens once in awhile when someone does a sortie just while the ranks are recalculated. No big thing, he won't have this rank anymore tomorrow.

Go look at the categories that bomber rank depend on.  You will notice, NONE are time dependent.  In fact, to score high on three of them (Damage/death, damage/sortie, hit%), one only needs one or two "perfect" runs to be in at or near the top rankings of that category.

Damage points and field captures will require a little bit of time, but not too much if you are always successful.

The ranking system was deliberately designed so that those with relatively little time to play could still "compete" for rank with those have no life beyond the game.  For example, this is why we have K/D and K/T ratios, not total kills, as a part of the ranking system.

<> I saw Lusche's post (who got in while I was typing) and went to the score page.  I see now what you are referring to.  What I said above is still true generally, but Lusche is correct in this specific instance.

This happen to me a few tours ago, I upped a B-24 to hit a CV, I didn't realize that I forgot to check formations.  So I had a single B-24 with 8 1000lb bombs, I hit the un-damaged CV with every one of the bombs which is just enough to sink it.  This was only my second or third bomber sortie of the tour, I had a bomber ranking around 1000-2000 before that sortie, after that single sortie my bomber rank shot up to 88 the next day.

This is the first campaign Ive had a score on boats/veh below 1000 that I can remember. Am I doing better in them? No. I just did alot more of them.I bomb pretty good, and always shoot down alot of planes while doing it, but the score doesnt show it. I fly an older fighter and shoot down alot of LW planes with it, but the score doesnt show it.

     I gave up on score about 3 years ago. I play for the fight at hand.
