Title: Why don't I play more?
Post by: Bear76 on July 21, 2007, 03:46:03 PM
I wish I could blame real life for spending less time playing, but I’d be lying. I can’t blame the game itself either. Let’s face it; this is the best WWII flight sim out there. Sure it has its flaws, but look how far the game has come. As with any game, people find and exploit its weaknesses. That’s the nature of the beast. Like we all say, it’s their $14.95 and they can play the way they want.

My decreasing interest in playing stems from the constant name calling, belittling, etc.. Sadly, I’ve been guilty of it too. It’s not just channel 200. Country and range channels have gotten just as bad. Sure, I’ve turned off 200 and squelched those that annoy. The problem then is you miss those good things. Especially if you have friends and people you respect flying for other countries.

Granted, this time of year a lot of kids are playing so there is little expectation of maturity and self restraint expected of them, but the rest of us are adults. Most of us are “Type A” personalities, but adults none the less. I think most of us forget that this is a game! It doesn’t define who we are and as shocking as this sounds, it isn’t real. It is supposed to be fun.

This game has probably one of the most mature bases of players on the internet.  It has decreased over the years.

If you think name calling etc is bad, you haven't venture outside the city limits.

There is a certain type of player who hates to lose in this game, and probably any game they play. You always see the excuse of why they died on 200. Its never them being out flown though. Its either they were ganged, warped, were HO'd, rammed, rubber bullets, etc.

You will never change this type of player. Its who they are. Its probably why they like this element of online gameplay vs real life games. They can act that way and get away with it. They probably ran out of real life friends a long time ago.

From what Ive seen they make up probably only 10% of this community though so turning off 200, while silencing them, means you lose out on the remaining 90% of good natured folks you could be conversing with.

The worst thing you can do is argue with them They feed on it. Just ignore them.

       They lack disiprine.

It is interesting that you mention the fighting..

What I was just speaking to my wife about the other day,was that,at least on my side, the bish, and not everyone on that side,is when we are getting close to losing a map I see the morale drop like a rock and everyone starts really getting annoyed with other teammates. But I have seen us come back from that attitude, and win.and have even felt it in myself.Makes me wonder if other sides experience this.

                                                  Peace and Plenty,
                                                           Kevin

While I haven't flown Rooks much, I can vouch for the fact that Bish and Nits both suffer from what you've described.

Agreed - I turned 200 off more than a year ago.

On range twice in three days the same guy screams for the CV to stop turning so he can take off, then two minutes later rags whoever was in command, "Way to go __________ , you got the CV sunk!!

In country slams are getting worse, usually NBs but not always.

This game may have most mature players online, but that's not saying much!

-I didn't steal your kill, I put it out of it's misery!

Could it be that you're just getting burned out on the game...having less fun and are less distracted by the game play, and therefor have more time to focus on the inconsequential rantings of frustrated pile-its and retards.
