Title: new system, stick settings won't load...
Post by: bsdaddict on July 22, 2007, 11:27:09 AM
I've been out of commission for a while, computer died and had to get a new one.  I transferred my settings, sounds, skins and terrains dirs to the newly installed AH2, but when I go in game the stick mapping isn't active.  This is XP pro and it's installed on an ntfs partition.  any ideas?

check you settings folder properties ... if its on" read only " it will stop you from making changes ingame to them . and they may hold up other changes too .

checked that.  while the folders are, for some reason, marked read-only, the files aren't.  after transferring my old settings files to the new installation and firing up AH, the stick mappings were blank, as if my .jsm files weren't there.  I am able to make and save changes though, so the files are accessable...  I was thinking it might have something to do with the fact that the old installation was on a fat32 filesystem, and the new one being ntfs causing some sort of wierd permissions issue, but that wouldn't explain why a newly downloaded file of murdr's head positions wouldn't take.  I think I'll try reinstalling and transferring old files over one at a time...

You can try to rename your settings folder and starting over, to see if that will help.

Found that when I'm moving copies of files around, when I put them onto their new home, they are in read only mode at the folder level....once I changed that, didnt have any issues.....
