Well, when I play Aces High II on Eight Player Head to Head I disconnect every few minutes. This happens in every arena hosted by another player.
I use Wireless, so I thought it might be playing up so I plugged a cable into m computer that connected me directly into my Router. But it still didn't fix me diconnecting.
I told someone on Aces High about my problem ad they told me to right clickte Arena Map and to click on NetSpace( I think this is what it's called ) and he said there shoud be a Red line or a line in the boxes that came up.
All I saw was two blueish/Purplish boxes that were completely blank without any lines i them at all. I told him what I saw and he told meI did have problems with my connectivity.
So I posted here. If it helps, my general internet is ine, it jus happens on Aces High II.
-
To clarify, her Net Status does not have any readings, and she gets disconnected from Aces High II while remaining connected to the internet.
Zava, are all programs closed except for Aces High II and perhaps Ventrilo or something? Things like e-mail, messaging programs, and possibly even your internet browser could be interfering. Also make sure that your firewall isn't blocking Aces High II; if that were the case, I doubt that you'd be able to join at all, but checking can't hurt.
-
Also, if your using any p2p apps, these will retain your connection for ages after you kill them.........check your firewall, antivirus etc isnt set up to connect for updates whilst your playing (I've had disco's for that), and any app program that isnt required for the game, isnt running....(all I have running when I play is ventrilo and AHII)....could you post a pingplot as well.......thankeee kindaly

Plingpot? I used to have a p2p but I never used it and I deleted it. The only thing that is running when I play is Ace High and my Cpu Usage is ( It changes all the time. ) 3 - 7.
It may be my router, but I don't know what is causing it.

Hi Zava, Ping plotter will detail the route from your puter to aces high (in a number of jumps and with a pic)
Ping Plotter Download (http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html)
Once you've done that, we should be able to see if your getting packet loss etc anywhere, which can cause disconnects. Can you change the setting in pingplotter to show udp please...Also, do you have anything running that updates regularly (ie explorer on a page with a shout bar for example) as one of those has done it to me as well......

Alright. Downloaded it. Now, how do I direct it toAces Hig and what settings and whatnot... I have no idea what to do on it.
-
Ok, once you've installed it, and opened it up, it will ask for an ip (just some numbers separated by periods)
The ip to aces high is 206.16.60.39......if you check the other tabs on there, there should be one you can go into to change it from tcp/ip to udp. Once its beein running for a couple of minutes, save the output as a pic (jpg/bmp etc) and host it on one of the sites on the net (photobucket etc)......then bung it up on here, and we'll take a look. While we're at it, what router, settings do you have, and has this been happening for a while, or just started?

I this the right pic. Sorry if it isn't, I don't quite understand.
-
I'm not quite sure about it, either, but if you'll look to the right side of the graph, you'll notice that you do seem to have a rather high ping. I've never heard of a ping of 500 causing disconnects, however.
-
Few higher ping times, of more interest, you are losing 25% of packets on jump 15, 25% on jump 16 and 50% on jump 19........which doesnt seem right.......that said, last time I checked mine, I had a 100% loss over 1 jump...may well have to wait for skuzzy on this one.......

I can wait. I still don't know anything about what your discussing -_-.
-
Lol, sorry Zava, what can I say, I'm a geek.......

:P. I'm going to go now. I'll check for any other replies later.

BT users seem to be having a lot of troubles lately.
I would be concerned about your CPU usage as well. It should be bouncing between 0 and 1 (occasionally 2) like a steady heartbeat when the computer is idle.
3 to 7 is far too high.
-
So, your saying there's nothing much I can do? It's my broadband provider?
-
Zava speaking from a UK internet providers perspective.
The amount of rain we have had and are still having has caused some serious issues for connections in the affected flooded areas.
What speed connection do you have with BT. If its an up to 8mb circuit they are rate adaptive, so are nowhere near as stable as the bog standard 2mbps.

How do I work my speed out? It says my Wireless speed is 54.0mbps but that's all I can find.
-
Wait a minute. You are on a wireless connection? That can cause a lot of problems from the start. Wireless connections always have some level of bit errors associated with them.
For UDP, it means a lost packet. So, keeping those bit errors low is important. You can reduce the speed of the wireless connection which reduces the errors. Or you can physically connect to the router and not use wireless at all.
You basically have to remove the wireless part from the connection before any progress can be made.
I am assuming your physical link terminates into a wireless router where you live.
-
Yes, I use Wireless. But when the problem started I physically connected. But when I turn off my Wireless it's as if my physical connection isn't on. So beasically I have two connections - Wireless and Physical. But Wireless seems to be the only one working.
If you need to know, I physically connected with the Wireless still on. So how do I get the physical to work?
-
Now I'm really confused. You unplugged your computer's wireless card, and plugged in your cable instead? Wait, what kind of connection do you have, cable or DSL?
-
No. I did nothing to my Wireless. Listen:
Before the problem I used Wieless Connection without ny physical ( connection from PC directly to Router through a cable ).
When the problem began, I plugged in a cable which connected me to my router. That's it. But it doesn't seem to fix it. And my physical connection seems to act like a Wireless.
And if I unplug my Wireless will it fix anything? Cause I currently have my physical connection and wireless connection. But when I turn off my Wireless I can't connect, as if my Physical Connection isn't turned on but it says it's connected.
-
I would try removing your wireless card altogether. If you are then unable to connect, then you will know that your regular connection isn't working.
-
In your Networking panel (Start->Settings->Network), there are probably two ICONS. One for your wireless connection and one for your Eterhetn card. Right click on the wireless one and disable it when you want to use the physical link.
-
Ok. Done. My Physical Connection is now 100Mbps. But I still tend to disconnect, but not as often.
-
Elimiinating the wireless part will yeild more accurate PingPlots. So now, try running them.
-
You mean another picture thingy of my PlingPlotter, right? Here goes!

-
Zava, what were you trying to tell me in my server today?
-
That my dad thinks it's our Broadband's speed. So he will try and get a better one or something. Till then I may not be playing for a few months.
-
:) it isnt about speed its about stability, Zava
im a dial-up user :D
and is it wireless beyond the router?, ive kinda heard about some problems with that.
(sorry if im not really helping)
-
I'm sorry to hear that, Zava.
