Well, got out of class and had to walk down the main street at my college. Posted on the corner near the old town hall were a couple of tents with older citizens wearing bright orange and their cause was "Impeach Bush & Cheney". They had petitions to send to congressmen and the whole nine yards. I know its a bit late in the term to do this and I doubt it would get anywhere, but thats the whole problem with the system: noone thinks they have a voice to really do anything. So I signed it, and went on about my day.
My question: What is the syptom in society in that the majority of these people out for their cause were senior citizens? I would be extremely surprised to see a organized movement like this commanded by anyone under the age of 24 but over the age of 18. Anyone see it differently?

Because they are wise enough to know what is right and what is wrong. Where do I sign?

welcome to the 2008 witch hunt

They are seniors now but they were the same lefties that I grew up with in the sixties. They have the same agenda and... unlike todays youth.. they care.. missguided I think but at least doing something.
They felt a part of something in the 60's and they want that back.
It is not complex stuff... even less so if you lived through it.

I do, I vote.
The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.
Treason and bribery are out.
High crimes and misdemeanors...
High- in the legal parlance of the 18th century means "against the State". A high crime is one which seeks the overthrow of the country, which gives aid or comfort to its enemies, or which injures the country to the profit of an individual or group. In democracies and similar societies it also includes crimes which attempt to alter the outcome of elections.
The first impeachment conviction by the U.S. Senate was in 1804 of District Judge John Pickering for the high crime and misdemeanor of chronic intoxication. Federal judges have been impeached and removed from office for tax evasion, conspiracy to solicit a bribe, and making false statements to a grand jury. Bill Clinton was impeached on to his conviction of perjury.
So: GWB has not been accused of tax evasion, or giving false testimony.
Haliburton! Haliburton is the group which profited at the expense of the country!
a cry in the wiliderness... one would have to show that the war was started with the intent of profiting Haliburton and not for the stated reasons.
But the war started on a lie! There were no WMD's!
The consensus of intellegence agencies of several different countries was that SH had WMD's. The call just before the war was "Let the inspectors have just a little more time!" not "They already verifed that all the WMD's are gone!"
He fixed the election! Remember hanging chads?!
Recounts all showed GWB winning against Gore in Florida.
PBS Link (http://www.pbs.org/newshour/media/media_watch/jan-june01/recount_4-3.html) In the first full study of Florida's ballots since the election ended, The Miami Herald and USA Today reported George W. Bush would have widened his 537-vote victory to a 1,665-vote margin if the recount ordered by the Florida Supreme Court would have been allowed to continue, using standards that would have allowed even faintly dimpled "undervotes" -- ballots the voter has noticeably indented but had not punched all the way through -- to be counted.
And anyway if GWB is so stupid, how could he have rigged the election?
So the charges on which to base impeachment are what?
-
The only crime I can think of that he is guilty of was not shutting down the borders on September 12th, 2001. Protecting our borders is one of his duties he has failed to perform. 30 million illegals and all subsequent anchor babies is nothing less than an invasion.
I would look into his influence in the prosecution of agents Ramos and Compean. Johnny Sutton, the federal prosecutor in the case is a close friend of GWB.
The lefties are just following the MTV mentality populist garbage with these nontroversies.
I don't even like GWB but I know BS when it's in the air!

Man about 2 weeks ago we had two people on our fire dept grounds (which is next to a post office) saying impeach Bush and Cheney. They also had letters and stuff to sign.
I thought they were idiots and still do. Come on he isnt do that bad of a job to be inpeached.
-
THAT puts Nancy Pelosi in the oval Office
Think about it!
-
do NOT impeach them. :D
-
Actually, if the democrats don't move to impeach bush soon, they'll lose the 2008 elections. They won the 2006 elections based entirely on the radical left's support to impeach bush.
They are now showing that they probably won't do it. So the MoveOn group will form the communist party with others and cut out the democrat's feet from under them.
-
No reason to impeach Bush, history will record him as one of the worst Presidents.
ack-ack

What are the charges????? What laws has either of them personally broken??
Signing a petition to do it is about the stupidest thing I've heard of in a while.
This IS America after all.....you know innocent until proven guilty. Congress can't impeach either of them unless they have proof of them having commited a crime.
Being stupid isn't a crime....if it was everyone who signed that petition would have to go to jail.

Funny thing is, the people who want to impeach Bush are the same lot that think Carter was the fabulous President. Makes one wonder...

I would'nt say that. I think Bush blows and so did Carter. At least Carter emerged from his Presidency with a statesman status.

Nobody here on this BBS, or in congress I'll bet, knows more about the constitution than Bruce Fein.. a "righty" calling for Dick & Bush to be impeached. Everyone in the US should watch this, being an American is more important that being a party member.

That's the best quote I've seen on this board in years.

Who cares,
The system is busted. It no longer work. Both the Dems and Reps can no longer get anything done because they are fighting to much. So far the only thing they have voted together on is a pay raise.
We need to elect a KING, yea that's the ticket!
This governemnt is a joke so now I am going to start to make fun of it and treat it like a bunch of first graders.
First thing I'm going to do is spank Hillary, then Nancy OH YEA!!!

last winter my son and I were cruising broward blvd west bound, right in front of the federal building there was a congregation of aging pony tailed hippies protesting the president or the war or something. my then sixteen year old suggested we turn around and find a place that sells balloons then he would fill a few with water. I pooh poohed the idea so he had to content himself with rolling down his window and shouting "go home you old hippies" as we went by.
I took that opportunity to explain to him that the stuff he saw was one of the things that makes America far greater than any other country on the planet, that folks could up and mount a protest without fear of the army coming in and shooting them up. his response was "ya, well those guys have been morons for their whole lives".
atta boy. at least he gets it.
x0847marine, if bill moyers supports it, it's lies and foaming at the mouth far left propaganda. that guy has discredited himself so that the only place he can spew from is PBS.

Now I was going to say "aging hippies unhappy with the fact they are aging and now looking to recapture some of their glory years and trying to feel relivent again"
But you put it much more eloquently.
While I do not agree with what they are trying to accomplish and dont think they have a snowballs chance in hell of being successful.
I support their exercise of free speach.

I am an American before I am a party member... see.. it is easy to say.
It is also just so much sound bite pap.
Being an American really means that you do everything to fight socialism. The founders did not believe in socialism and wanted a minimalist government that protected the rights of the individual.. I think it odd that some of the biggest socialists are talking about "being an American" both here and in hollyweird.
RPM and mahr.. talking about being an American... it just gets more and more bizzare.
An American would fight socialism... He would do anything to make sure that no democrat ever got into power.

Largely viewed as a failed presidency.
Carter is a classic example of someone who became more relevant once he left office then when he was in.
I dont know how directly responcable he was for it but I will give credit to him one one thing if nothing else.
That was the Youth Jobs & training programs that were available during his term. Of which I am a product. And my mother benifited from enabling her to re enter the workforce after my father split for parts unknown
These were good programs
As much as I liked Regan. I beleive it was a major flaw when he demd them as pork and cut funding to them.

impeachment would be fair.
After reading about his grandfather Prescott Bush,I'm bloody angry.while my father was being shot at and dive bombed Grandpa was funding the third Riech.!!!
When did he stop? When he was forced to! October 1942!
Prescott Bush should have been Hanged, then British boys wouldn't be being Killed and maimed underpining his Grandson's - misgiuded,I'm being kind here - foriegn policy.
God I'm angry,Google Prescott Bush,and you'll know why.

It would be FAIR to punish G. W. Bush for something his grandfather did?????
That entire statement is just as stupid as those African-Americans telling everyone that White people owe them because well over 100 years ago their people were slaves.
That was THEN and this is NOW. Of course if you really belive what you said then you better pray that no one in your families past ever did anything wrong because if they did then your guilty too.

I saw a few old hippies with an Impeach the Queen banner a few blocks away. Want me to sign you up?;)

I have no idea how it would turn out, but I'd be thrilled to see how many of the "Impeach Bush" signees vote in their local elections, or even the '08 National election for that matter.
I know some real tin-foil hat types who don't vote, and I've never really understood it.

you are exactly right not that im all for it

I feel quite certain that if Bush has done anything that can be used as grounds for impeachment, then he will be impeached. Im betting he does not get impeached. All this foolish liberal extremism tends to get washed out once a mild dose of reality is infused into the equation.
