This test is even goofier than the mil leader one. It really funnels you into being a dove or a hawk with little in between.

Anwar Sadat

Again, I don't see an answer I like to question 4. There is no "Provoke immediate war" button.

I got George Washington.

Kick ass, take names later. Kill them all, let God sort them out.
Andrew Jackson was a pragmatic leader who worked within the patronage-oriented political system that existed then. He was much more focused on domestic politics than foreign policy. Though he could use force — Jackson became a national hero when he defeated the British at New Orleans during the War of 1812 — he was a consummate diplomat and skilled negotiator. He was one of the most skillful political leaders of his generation and is credited with reviving the two-party system in this country. Personally, he was boisterous and fiercely jealous of his honor. He engaged in brawls, and in a duel killed a man who insulted his wife.

Andrew Jackson
Of course, actually I would have realized the weakness of my country early in my first decade of rule, and worked hard to build up a highly trained Prussian style combined arms force that was small but well led, equipped and motivated. Romelia would have learned a hard lesson from it's aggressive ways, as I negotiated peace terms within artillery range of its capital city -- it's bloated and overly politicized and bureaucratic army in ruins after the lightning swift advances of the past two weeks.

Andrew Jackson, described as one of the first 'modern' presidents. Hmmm interesting as in the military leader quiz. I got Sherman who was described as the first modern general. At least I'm consistent. :) Once again, I missed out on the Irish leader. This time it was Daniel O'Connell. :(

LOL Charon, no way would Romelia let that happen. As they watched you militarise with growing alarm they would plot your downfall. They couldn't afford to have a state on their border with sympathies towards their enemy Avalonia. The last thing they need is a two front war. So, resurrecting a long forgotten territorial claim in a border province they would sponsor those terrorists while disclaiming any reponsibility. When your retaliate by bombing the terrorists thinking you had Romelia's permission. They would show pictures on TV of destroyed hospitals, churches, orphanages and schools and then invade to 'protect Romelia from further aggression'. Avalonia is sympathetic but too far away to provide much help.
As you sit in the presidental palace being bombarded by Romelian artillery. You will wish you'd chosen another career. :lol Soon your country would just be another province of Great Romelia and the population sent off to work in the salt mines of Arctic Romelia. :cry

I think its interesting that 3 out the 4 of us that got Andrew Jackson also also got Teddy Roosevelt. Probably doesnt mean anything, but interesting in a curious sort of way. I wonder if its how the questions are setup..?

No, no, no. You see, their arrogance was their downfall. Too many political appointees in military leadership positions, too much focus on numbers and too little on quality to much confidence in the Romelian War Spirit that had grown soft and decadent. Plus, they never had any cultural appreciation for our quiet but firm non interventionist policy -- seeing it as weakness. Their initial onslaught was stopped cold with high kill ratios in the air and against their mechanized forces. My senior field commander executed a brilliant pincer movement (actually one war gammed several years previously in a remarkable similar scenario) that encircled several army groups well short of their initial objectives. Confidence turned to panic. While my well armed citizen reserve handled the thousands of POWS a two pronged drive served to isolate the capital while engaging and blunting the Romelian reserves. The Romelian Leader, strung up on a light pole in the capital city by his own people was a due reward for such a monumental miscalculation.
