Title: A2A Rockets (Wgr21)
Post by: PanzerIV on July 26, 2007, 01:14:53 PM
At what distance do these detonate after being shot off?

They are only on 109 G-6 109 G-14, Fw190 A-5 Fw190 A-8 and  Bf110 G.

Use "Search".    Distances vary.

If the target is going slow, you'll want to shoot about 1.4k or 1.3k. I did some tests way back with 2 110Gs (one flying straight, other shooting, trading off when it was out of rkts). When they're going about 150mph it's 1.4k

However, at alt, when shooting at 300mph bombers, I find you have to get in to at LEAST 1k. You also have to shoot high, as they drop considerably.

Coincidentally, I got a kill on a lanc last night with 'em. Probably the first in many years. Granted I stopped USING them for years, but still!

Awhile back I was engaged with 2 Bf 110's, tangled with one first and then his buddy came in trying to get the cherry pick as I saddled up on the 1st Bf 110.  Then I see a bunch of smoke trails go screaming past me and about 4-5 ack bursts explode around the 1st Bf 110, killing it.  I check my six and all I see is bits of plane fluttering down.  The 2nd Bf 110 killshot himself with the A2A rockets.  Only time I've ever seen them work.

:D :lol :rofl :rofl :rofl :aok

Most of 'em that I've seen hit are so close that you're in mortal danger (that is, direct impacts rather than puffy bursts), but every once in a while you do it right, and you get a free kill.
