i was wondering if anyone could help me set my vid card up. i get good frame rates, solid 59-60, drops to 50 or so in a furball. i get this kinda wave effect when passing things or looking through the prop. i don't know what most of the settings on the card are for so i cant make a good choice on how to set them. here are my system specs:
AMD Athlon 64 processor 3200+, 2 GHz, 2 gig of RAM, Samsung 19" widscreen LCD monitor, Soundblaster X-Fi sound card.
any help would be cool, thanks :D

84.66 drivers. Use them on 7600GTs.
It's the ONLY good choice, and trust me I'ved tried many different drivers. I haven't tested the latest version but don't imagine they're any better at this point (stupid .NET crap!)
Also, what's the refresh rate (in miliseconds) on your monitor? If it's really slow, that might acount for the "wave" you see.

4ms response time if i remember right. it started having the wave problem after i install the card, im not sure what setting to change to make it go away without ruining the graphics.

Try the 86.44 drivers first, see if that fixes it. Be sure to uninstall the old drivers first

Your refresh rates (of the monitor) may have reset since you did change the card.
Go to Display Settings -> Settings -> Advanced (bottom right corner) -> Monitor
See what the Monitor refresh rate is. Set it as the highest number. Might be 75hz or what not. If that number is on the highest, then we'll try something else.

it's at 75

I wasn't thinking refresh rate. That won't cause "wave" motions. Let us know if those drivers make any difference.

I'm sorry if I'm intruding on the current subject. Yet I just got the NVidia 7600 GS (Not GT) and was wondering if anyone knew which the best drivers are for it. I currently have the 6.14.10.9371 drivers for it. I forgot to uninstall the old drivers of my NVidia MX400 before I installed the 7600 GS drivers which were on the CD-ROM. Does anyone think I need to up or downgrade my drivers?

In general the 90-series (and greater) are the worser drivers for Nvidia. I don't know about the GS, but for the GT the 84.66 are the best, most stable, smallest footprint drivers there are.
Try them. If you have problems then see what skuzzy has to say.

im having trouble finding the 84.66 drivers, i found a bunch on the nvidia website, just not the ones i need.
