hope i dont cause too much bs...but i have an issue id like to point out.my squad was assigned to escort 2 other squads in on an attack on a cv.i was informed by one of the squads upon take off that they didnt want escort and were gonna take the long way.
as a planner of many of these events id like to ask that squads please follow orders.they are not allways the best orders and ive been know to stretch the boundries myself, but i allways do what is asked.follow your paths please and and do what is assigned, like it or not.youll get your chance to do it your way....but by choosing your own path you screw up the timing of the guy that just spent 6-32 hrs planning the whole thing.if you expect to have people follow your orders some day,you might want to show them the same respect.
btw...the squad we escorted made it in, but didnt have enough to kill the target.we gave our lives to distract the cv defence and it worked.wtg everyone.
the squad that choose their own path were picked off befor they ever got bombs off.
maybee im wrong, maybee they had orders?just an observation

Sqwiglly what side were you on?

does it matter?
and what the heck does ur sig mean?are those fights you were in?wtf?

Sqwiglly I tend to agree unless they contact the escorting or bombing squad they are coordinating things with ahead of time to make sure everyone is good with it.
My squad for example went a bit further south on the way to our target (A10). I am pretty sure we would have been spotted as were flying near two hot spots. A1 and A5, but we stayed about a sector or more south of those. We never saw our escorts, but was in constant contact with them. We hit A10 unopposed, but we were slaughtered shortly after that.

You might have escaped completely, but the P-38's we were tangling with bugged out and gave us time to get back to defend A10. Still, you guys didn't make it easy. Fun fight. :aok

The 38's did great then pulling you off of A10. Last I heard when you guys showed up they were busy over A9. They could not get back to us. Oh well...

When we were going to run pearl harbor Eld was assigned 47 Fighter Squadron / 17 Fighter Group F4F
In Operation Husky he was GL of the 5th FG which flew P40s.
His MA squad is the 613th SOS Pariah which he is 3rd in command of.
Back to does it matter which side it was. Well kinda of I'm sure the CiCs would like to know whos blowing off there orders.
