This would be ammo in the "9mm is a weak round" arguement.  I am of course very happy for the soldier to escape serious injury.

But still, it should have done more damage. Maybe it was a squibfire?

ps. it's stories like this that always make me feel a little wierd about my squad's motto, which is from a real Army helicopter unit.

Cheap ammo for the insurgents. That man is extremely lucky though and should never go back into a combat zone after this tour is up.
