Title: VH Spontaneous Cumbustion
Post by: BaldEagl on August 04, 2007, 01:51:19 PM
Yesterday I and another player were sitting at V58 on the Mid-Mesa map which had been under attack off and on for quite awhile.

We were both in tanks sitting there looking out toward the spawn when the VH near the map room spontaneously blew up.  I was sitting on that hanger pad so I could watch the map room at the time.  There were no aircraft in the area, no dar bar, no sounds of bombs falling, no ground fire, no flashing, no warning sirens... nothing.  Another player who was in God mode in the tower saw it too.

A few minutes later the hanger across from the spawn hanger did the same thing.

It's hard enough defending these bases at times without giving the enemy the added advantage of spotaneously combusting hangers.

he must have been a long---long way away...but still...the air raid siren would go off.

I noticed that too some time ago. Hangar seemed to blow up without any enemy action.
We discovered that an enemy tank sitting at a really extreme range on a mountain attacked the VH's. My guess is that he was beyond the distance threshold were enemy bullets/rounds are no longer rendered on our computers. (And, of course, also outside the GV alert range of that base, wich is rather small)

ive seen this happen several times too
something is seriously wrong because there was no enemy fighters bombers or tankers firing on them

this needs to be fixed because its nonsense

and i repeat ive seen this multiple times with no explanation for it going down

See my post for an explanation. Just because you don't see the tankers, that doesn't mean they aren't there. Just faaaaaaaaar away. ;)

A tank can take down a hangar with one shot?  Sorry I'm new so I really don't know, but I thought it was more and I would assume they would hear the previous shots hit the hangar.

Read my message again. I was not mentioning "single shot". I offered you an explanation why you don't hear/see all the shots.

I apologize, I thought even if you couldn't see nor hear an enemy firing, you could still hear the rounds landing hits if it was nearby.

Not if they are not rendered at all on your system.

Review it and if something seems amiss send it in.

I've sat at tops of hills and taken down hangers that were about 5-6K away in a T-34.  It really isnt that hard to get them ranged that far out

And that puts you outside the base alarm trigger range, which is 5280yds

The ranging part I have no problem with but the actual bug
may be in the hearing the rounds hit I have noticed this several
times {maybe several hundred lol}. It seems to happen all the time while
in the turrent and alot while in drivers position. I have seen the dust
from a round being fired but no sound or no shot sound.
