Ok, guys, rather than make a lot of little threads I just put all of my questions here. Hope I can get some help.
1) I believe in the TA you can enable a little thing that tells you exactly where to lead the opponent to hit them. Is this available off line also?
2) What makes the different countries different? Basically why would I choose one over the other besides that people I know fly a certain country?
3) When I rearm does that "refill" my WEP?
4) How many cannon hits does it take to take a wing off?
5) How recent is Soda's and Gonzo's websites? Accurate enough to use for present day?
6) Does the collision model work like whoever hits the other first due to lag or whatever gets damage and the other flies on without injuries? Just wondering.
Ok, that's it for now, thanks a lot.

1) Prefrences = Arena Settings = FlightModelFlags = Lead Computer Gunsite
2) All three countries are basically the same.
3) When you rearm, turn off your engine. Cooling the engine temp=wep refill
4) Depends on the cannon. One 30mm will shred a wing.
5) Yes
6) In a 1 on 1 fight there are really 4 planes. Two on your computer, and two on your opponents computer.
What you see and what they see are slightlyl differnet due to internet lag.
IF you see a collision on your computer, you get damage.
If you don't see a collision, you won't.
On your computer the two planes collied, but on your opponents it's a near miss.
You would take damage, they would not. (or vs. versa)
If you ram into a plane and take damage and they fly off undamaged, it is because they saw a near miss. (it happens the other way around too. an nme can fly near you, and suddenly be missing parts)
Who get's hit 1st due to lag does not have a single thing to do with the collision model.
Bottom line is if you hit them, you take damage.
If you don't, you won't.

Ok cool, thanks a lot. And sorry for not clarifying. Meant 20mm, specifically the MG 151/20.

I'd say 2-4 well placed 20mm rounds should shred a wing.
Convergance and aim.
You can spray 20mm rounds all over a wing and not take it off, but if you are setting up the shot correctly, and are hitting at your convergance, 2-4 20mm rounds in one spot will do the job.
-
As lute said its all in your aim. If you "walk" your rounds up the wing even 3-4 20mm might not damage a thing...but 2 in right spot will saw the wing right off. G loading is a big variable...if your pulling G's when your shooting you'll spread your rounds out...imagine a garden hose with your aiming it at a specific spot vs moving it around...thats the same effect.
-
everything lute said basically.
if i may suggest though, the luftwaffe 20mm are in general on the lesser end of the lethality scale. unless you have a big fat top down/belly shot on the wings it will be tough to connect enough to rip a wing off the average strength aircraft. aim for the cockpit, mid-section and tail feathers and you might only need one good 20mm hit to kill the pilot/chop the tail off.
with hispano 20mm a wing shot is far more likely to pay off even from a dead six o'clock shot, just in my observations.

Hmm, I may just be stupid, and if I am I apologize. I go offline, go options, go preferences, and see the options for Flight
Voice
View Option
Game Sounds
Gunsights
GUI
I don't see Arena Settings or anything else.
Is there a different Preferences?

Thanks for that. Yeah I usuall aim for the middle of the plane because I know that because of my bad gunnery if I miss that I MIGHT get the wings :D . Anyway I just for some reason use sawing a wing off as a comparision point.

I will answer the ones i feel havent been covered already.
3. Re-arm pads do nothing to WEP. WEP is normally an extra power setting on the engine. Some are water-methanol injection systems, some are extra stages on super-chargers etc. In theory the amount of water and methanol in their respective virtual tanks should be finite and eventually run out, in AH2 they will never run out. The only limit there is on WEP is when engaged the engine produces more heat and will eventually get to a 'safety cut-off point' and disengage automatically to stop the engine cooking itself. So, as nothing is used-up with WEP, nothing can replenish it. Letting your engine cool back down to below the cut-out threshold will mean you can re-engage WEP. The more you let it cool to its normal operating temperature, the more WEP duration you will get up to its max run-time before cut-out. This run-time differs between aircraft.
4. Depends on where you hit and type of 20mm round. The MG 151/20 should take off vert-stabs, horiz-stabs, and wings if hit in wing-root with one hit. In practice this may not always be the case. 20mm Hispano does a lot more damage.
5. Gonzo's site is more than good enough to use as an indicative guide. Don't take it as absolutes tho. Remember any degree of error in the data, is normally insignificant compared to the variance introduced in another variable: relative pilot skill. Since pilot skill will disproportionately account for the outcome of an engagement, it doesn't matter if gonzo's data is not 100% accurate. NOTE: I'm NOT bagging gonzo's sight AT ALL - i'm just pointing out theres another variable which shouldn't be ignored.
6. When people talk about "if you 'see' a collision you will get damage" what they mean by 'see' is not if YOU actually see it with your eyes on your monitor, but if your front-end registers a collision between your aircraft and another. Also note, that what your front-end 'sees' and the collidee's front-end 'sees' at any given point in time is slightly different due to net-lag. So this is why in some cases only one aircraft takes collision damage. This system at least gives you an opportunity to take evasive action to avoid a collision and not take damage because a collision registered on the other persons FE - why should you take damage when you avoided the crash? This is complex and sometimes controversial subject, do a search and be prepared to read LOTS...

Well, for #2, what seems to be the case is:
Bishops have lots of hordes, seem to have the most amount of newer players. Plenty of check sixes.
Rooks have a few vets, a few newer players, most average. I can count the amount of check sixes I have got from them, very few.
Knights seem to have the most vets, but the fewest numbers. Usually pretty good for perks.
Again, this is my opinion, I fly for rooks. I have flown for each side.

Most people views of each country is highly subjective and totally unverifiable. For the most part assume a fairly random distribution of skill/styles etc across all countries.

Thanks guys. I believe everything has been covered greatly and I appreciate it a lot. But I am still having a little trouble with 1. Can't seem to find how to enable the leading target thing in the offline mode.
-
True Spatula, I base my decisions on what I observe other people do, the planes, preffered maneuvers, but as I said, it's my opinion from what I have experienced, but the Rook's check sixes are rare, and i would know :o

look for" arena settings "then do as lute explained

Online in the one of the main arena's you will not have an arena settings tab.
Offline you might, if you create your own H2H host for practise for sure it will be there as long as YOU are the host. Ie you have all the controls there like Hitech has for the main.
Easiest way to get that lead computing gunsight is to come into the Training Arena. Hit control Tab to enable, then point plane at someone, and hit tab again. Should see a green box pop up around his icon, and the XX's showing you where to aim.
