Whats the purpose of blurring the cockpit?
Title: Some fun.
Post by: weazely on August 08, 2007, 12:30:07 AM
I was going for the look of the photo beeing focused on the nose of the plane and anything else was kinda out of focus. Maybe not the best idea but i like the look.:aok

Can you not adjust it to focus on the nose and auto-blur outside of that?

Try one of the Spitfire Mk V in a dogfight.

Exaggerated depth-of-field blur tends to make things look like scale models.  You wanted a radial 'zoom' blur with a center back in the distance where the plane came from.

No one else notice that the guns are firing in mid air, too far out to one side and in front of the leading edge of the wing? :huh

I noticed that too OOZ, I just figured it was his settings in AH / FV.

I got a trick to help soften pictures and add extra cool.

(I don't know GIMP.  This is for PhotoShop, but GIMP might be able to duplicate the effect.)

Duplicate the main image in a new layer.  Go to town with brightness and contrast until the image is mostly black with 15-20% splotches of light.  Gaussian blur that layer, in this case maybe 15-20 pixel's worth.  Now screen that layer over the original layer.  This adds a "bloom" effect you will like.  (You should probably lower the opacity of that layer below 100%, too.)

Yes, try softening it. I did that with this picture I made:

I also changed hue, contrast, brightness, and sharpening:aok

I know the edges are jagged. I didn't know how to turn anti-aliasing on.

What I would LOVE to see is a High-Def picture of a Spitfire Mk V behind a 109-F (VERY close together) showing the heat waves coming out of the engines.

How do you guys get the edges so realistic?

Whenever I try to crop/erase it looks like it was Pixeled.

cool shots all of em

i enjoy creating screen shots myself
my only suggestion is to get rid of the edge pixelation

 i use the blur tool
the programs  i use are    photophilter  its free
faststone image viewer  also free(this is a good program for saving different sizes  for Avatars and such)

i try to make my screen shots look like photos.  so they should have some blur to em    the pixelation really killz the photo look  so that's mostly what i concentrate on.
  keep at it

I try to get rid of the pixels look by making the pressure of the blur like 10-12. Screenies are so much fun to do. I like the look u did with the blur so i tried it out.
