Title: P47D-40 fuel weight bug
Post by: Gryffin on August 07, 2007, 09:16:16 PM
Some takeoff weights from the E6B page:

Fuel    Guns      Ammo      Fuel    Weight

25       8        425       92      13282
50       8        425       186     13849
75       8        425       278     14339
100      8        425       370     14951

From 25->50% fuel, you gain 567lbs and 94 gallons of fuel
From 50->75% fuel, you gain 490lbs and 92 gallons of fuel
From 75->100% fuel, you gain 612lbs and 92 gallons of fuel

Shouldn't each 1/4 of a tank of fuel weigh the same amount and have the same number of gallons?

Let's see, offline

0% = 12044 lbs, 0gal
25% = 12594 lbs, 92 gal, fuel = 550 lbs total, 6lbs/gal
50% = 13161 lbs, 186 gal, fuel = 1117 lbs total, 6lbs/gal
75% = 13712 lbs, 278 gal, fuel = 1688 lbs total, 6lbs/gal
100% = 14264 lbs, 370 gal, fuel = 2220 lbs total, 6lbs/gal

I got different numbers from you. I chose the smallest gun package, no DTs no ord no nothing. DTs (even empty) add weight to the frame. Rockets add rocket pylons I believe. I tested mine "clean".

You are right, I went back and discovered that I wrote one of the numbers down incorrectly, 14339 should be 14399! :o

Not a bug after all!
