Title: Yeah me! I survived summer in Iraq...
Post by: VWE on August 08, 2007, 12:06:30 PM
Well the weather finally turned for the better the other day and its starting to cool off, gettin down to the mid 80's at night vs high 90's. Its still getting over 110 in the afternoon but that's better than 120+.

Good job VWE.  Now all you have to do is survive the fall mating migration of camel spiders, in which they grow wings and attack any large mammals (humans included) in order to provide a host for their off-spring.  It only happens every 7 years, I think the last time was in 2000.

I'll survive the camel spiders, I have a loaded M16 and the only 2 things I need to prove in order to shoot is hostel act or hostel intent.

They have them in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Mexico, and Baja Mexico.  In Mexico they are known as, "matevenados" (deer killer).

eek!

The biggest one I've seen around here was one that looked like a wolf spider, but the size of a tarantula. was big enough that I used a big section of the garden hose to smack it. yuck!

Wolf spiders are great for the garden, its the brown recluse you want to watch out for.

Ever get that lone cricket somewhere in the bushes at 2am making all kinds of noise? Put wolf spiders in your garden and those crickets will stay the frik out of your yard!
