Title: Kamakazi
Post by: Ace8765 on August 09, 2007, 10:58:08 PM
Sry if this was already brought up on the forums

When you hit a ship you should be able to do alot of damage or at least disable some of the guns or jam the rudder.

I agree. We should have Kamikazi in this game. This adds to realism. However, if you hit the ship, your account will be terminated and you are banned forever from game. This further adds to realism.

I think many would agree with you.  The problem as I see it with allowing suicide attacks is there is no downside to suicide pilot gamewise other than hurtin stats which most people could careless about now--since HT has made it clear that its just fine to kill your shade account in order to pad stats--what a bunch of BS that is.  Once they crash into a ship, they get to up brand new shiny plane.  Perhaps if there was some penalty like a time limit that had to be waited out between deaths I would be supportive of such an idea.

Show me where HT has said this.  On more than one occasion people have been caught doing this, reported by the community, and their stats have been erased.

No:

Because people (newbs) will do it constantly because they cannot do anything else

Because you can already use Lanstukas and carpet bomb the CV

The noob flys high over the enemy task group. As he looks down at it ready and determind to kamakazie into it he squeaks his head off on range channel "Guys cover me I'm going in!" He dives! Picking up airspeed rapidly, He lets out a loud yell on range channel for the last time before he dies "LLEEEEERRROOOOYYY JEEEEENNNKKKKINNNSS!" Ka-Boom! He slams his plane into the flight deck of the enemy carrier, planes trying to take off the carrier explode, 40mm quad guns blow-up from the explosion, VansCrew somewhere says noob, channel 200 light up with rage as people yell at the kamakazie pilot. The noob re-up in Lancasters and says "Now lets do it again!"

:D

I don't think we need kamakazie's

If you don't mind losing 50 perks for a suicide run, than have at it.

Hey, they lost there life, so what's 50 perk points.

Enable it for zero's only. Give it a check box before flight, and your good to go.  Give the Kamikazi a set point amount of damage.

Ahh.. nevermind, i'd rather see Combat Tour.

Now theres a novel idea! Maybe said zero would have no guns at all and limited fuel. Possibly also only available from carriers?

Yes there would be no end to it. Unless we could have an limiter that only allowed maybe........20 zekes per carrier?

I'd like to see damage modeling on all things to be improved. On ships maybe we can maybe kill engine, cause a ship to list, or maybe lag behind the rest of the convoy and be isolated (this wouldn't apply to the carrier of course, but to her escorts?)

Ever since thatepisode of Dogfights i wanted to be able to fly kamikaze missions as part of the divine thunder gods corp!
Then i can fly my Zero into ships and yell, "For Emperor Hirohito!".
Then after I die I will do it again!
Except in a Lancaster!

We should damage a plane be hiting right?Yes there is damage by hiting a plane but the one that is going the fastest is the only one that gets the damage.

I could see a Kamikaze as a perked ride.  Be a great way to get rid of perks because you can't cause enough damage to break even on losing the plane.

Make it unarmed and give it a damage rating equal to say 8000 lbs?
The let everyone up their perked Kamikazees and do HQ raids :)

Not to hijack the thread, but I'd love to see it so that you had to wait 3-5 mins before you could 'reup' after dying.  Might give some people an incentive to actaully try to survive.

No, then ramming becomes a valid tactic.  The collision model is fine the way it is.

I always wanted to kamakzy a plane with a CV :rofl

What if it was a perked option for the 0.  Lets say 200 perks?  Wana kamazi a CV it will cost ya a 262.  Oh yeah, and the explosion should be the equivalent of one 2K or 4K bomb

thats not actually how the damage model works. in most cases only one plane receives damage because it is set so that if the front end of you plane hits another plane you receive damage. if the rear of your plane gets hit you get no damage. they have to do it this way due to issues with internet lag.

Um...no. If your plane crosses a plane in your game at any time in any way, your computer damages you and calls out that you collided. If the enemy aircraft's game saw a collision, he receives damage.

It's easiest to understand if you think of each computer playing Aces High as a stand alone "boxed" game with no actual interaction. No two computers will have the exact same view on where everyone else is located at the same time, hence lag might cause an offset and give only one player a collision.

In other words, me and my buddy both playing AH together. When flying in formation, I read his range as 200. He reads my range as 400. Why the difference? Cause on my computer I moved closer towards him, but his computer is still "catching" up with my maneuver.
When I collide with him, on my computer I collided and so I get damage, but on his computer I was still 200 yards away. So on his computer there was no collision and hence no damage.
If we all had super fast internet connections (likes of which haven't been seen yet) then there would be no "catching up" and both sides would take a collision damage.

Clear?:lol

How would you feel taking damage looking at your film and seeing tangles front end view, hmmmmmm?

I know I'd be pretty POed.

Edit: This also works nicely for the "none should take damage" people.

I just don't like the fact if I hit a b-17 at 400 M.P.H I blow up with out the b-17 even knowing I collided with him.

Once i found a b-24 out of ammo just got infront of him lowered my speed and let him collide with me he exploded and i did not feel anything.

I believe that once, a very long time ago, that is how it was.  But there were too many complaints.  Folks didn't like paying to play a game where they spent time just sitting around waiting to fly.
