Im stumped.

When I try to play some videos in media player, they appear darker then normal. Is there a setting somewhere to make then brighter?

Which media player would that be? There are tons out there such as Real player, Windows Media Player Zoom, Winamp, Quick Time, I-Tunes, CCCP.

Yeah there's a way.  It's under Enhancements -> Video Settings

If my memory serves me correct.  Been using version 10 for a while.  But I know theres a setting for it.

I haven't used Windos media since 2000s

Does WM9 now support divX, matroshka, and h.264 (mp4) vidoe formats?

Aren't you studmuffins using Media Player Classic?  Don't be wary of the address, it's legit.  Google it if you want.

I had to download the codec packs for those three types of codecs.

My laptop has WMP10 on it, but it looks funny to me so I dont particularly like it that much on there. :(

I second MPC.  Media Player Classic (I get mine w/ the K-lite codec pack, plays anything) is super fantastic.  Some of my friends swear by VLC, too.

Meatwad, get the K-Lite codec pack, comes with Media Player Classic.  You'll love it, it's simple, bare bones, and doesn't take a minute to load like the crappy 'iTunes wannabe' Media Player in Windows.

I'd switch to MPC if it supports the following formats...

.divX

Matroshka (.mkv)

.mpeg4

h.264 (the latest variation of mp4)
