Title: puff ack
Post by: nooblet187 on August 16, 2007, 12:07:49 AM
I've been playing for 2 weeks nearly, not once has puff ack killed me. Except tonight I decide to take out a 262. I was flying around an enemy port and the CV respawned below me and after a few puffs from the ack I poof myself. I was 16k at full speed also, seems like a random thing which was harsh I lost all 118 perks !! Not too bad I have another 140 left... oh well.

Do you think losing 100% of perk value to a unmanned puff ack is fair? or other ack for that matter?

The 5" guns on CVs are manned puff ack! that might be what got you!

Did it say somebody killed you?

No.. thats why I said unmanned ack. All it said was I have been killed.

And the CV just spawned underneath... less then 5 seconds after the first puff exploded I was hit by one.:cry

First - What you doing in a  262 at a port? I usually see them at airfields only.

Second - You took the risk of taking a 262 and paying the perks. You died and therefore you must pay your debt (262's aren't cheap even for HT). No matter how you died, you died. YOU scratched HT's 262.:D  . May the lord be with you if you scratch his Rv-8. :lol

NOTE: I'm not trying to be mean, just trying to get a point across. If I sounded mean, I'm sorry.

I know, when I up a perk plane I consider the perks lost until I land safely.

It's just the random factor of puff ack. 2 weeks and the only time I die to it is in a 262. Lol...:O

I never asked for the perks back or complained really... I was making a point to ask a question, should you lose 100% of perks to random factor? If you think so thats fine. I think if manned, then its fair but otherwise for unmanned ack I think you should lose half or less of the value of the plane.

No!! Their AI ack scratched their own 262! :huh

 :D

We've all died (or atleast got damadged) once by puffy ack in the game. Puffy ack is randomly fired in the sky and sometimes you get hit and sometimes you don't. I see what you're getting at "Should you loose all your perks to randomly fired ack". And the answer that most people would say is yes. Its just a part of the game. You were just in the wrong spot at the wrong time and the cv got a lucky shot.....it is pretty funny your first death to it is in a 262 :lol .

I hope in one day HTC will change puffies so it will not just pop all around you but will work more like 20mm AI guns.

Anyway, i very thankful to HTC for removing 88s away from towns and airfields.

P.S. I cannt put into words how badly i HATE puffies

That is one of the main things i miss about warbirds.
All the kinds of tracers shot from long range, made keeping your eyes open, and your plane moving behind enemy lines MUCH more important.

and i honestly dont beleave half the bugs reported for it, i think people just had there heads to far up there six's "heh" to figure out that a quarter mile away, a gun COULD see them, and effectivly shoot there butts down, now the accuracy..thats another story ;)

As a puffy ack magnet I am thankful there is less of the stuff than there used to be.  As for losing a 262 to AI puffy ack it was just plain and simple tough luck.....better luck or more to the point better knowledge next time.

:aok

Actually, you did both, complain and want the perks back.  If you don't want to lose the perks don't fly a 262.   I really think puffy ack  is attracted to perked planes, seems I only get popped in a C-Hog.

Only problem I have with the puffy is that it is harmless to buffs comin in on the CV.  Not sure why we have it since it does nothing other than ocasionaly get a fighter fighter

when you get hit by puff ack it may suck but its completly random no favoring of perk planes etc... its just when you loose a temp or 262 you remember and or feel it more then a non perk ride;)

they way ack works is it draws a box around your plane i dont remember exact size but it will fire in that boxed area until you leave its range.  btw if your scared of puff ack fly under 2k where it wont shoot:aok

The program does not let players with less than a 2 month playing time period to accumulate perk points.

They have to make sure your first month payment does not bounce and want to see if you are sticking around for the long term.

There for puffy ack will kill you if you have more than 50 perks.  You have another 90 to lose.

Two or three tempest rides ought to take care of it.

Or in my case, the puffy stuff just hates me.

I only get killed by puffy ack if I'm flying a 262, Tempest or if I'm having the best night of my life in AH.

As for the price, it's fair.  If you up a plane into enemy territory, expect something or somebody to take a shot at you.  It's part of the game.  We'll just have to teach you to perk farm if you need the perks.

Hmmm, been flying for 2 weeks and you got a 262?  Was this in a training arena?

No I didn't, I did say it was harsh is all. I flew the 262 knowing I could lose the perks, just not in the way expected. Please quote where I asked for them back, all I wanted to know is peoples opinion on the matter and it really doesn't matter as its only a few days to get those perks back if I stay outta the spit 16 and flew higher eny planes hehe.

Thanks for your worthless post !
