Course China may be able to  pick the next Dali Lama

That does not mean the Buddists will recognise him as such.

That would be like the US government declaring Joe Izuzu  as the next Pope of the Catholic Church and the Church declaring their own Pope.

Somehow I dont see many people deciding to follow the governments choice.

Well just like used cars, they figure to capitalize on used souls.  Think of it like their best shot at recycling and being "green". Gore is pissed off because he didn't think of it himself. DUHHH!!! :huh
