Title: New Version Related?
Post by: Husky01 on August 26, 2007, 08:07:26 PM
First day playing the new version. The game has closed down on me 4 times saying AH has experienced a error and has to close. Could the new version have anything to do with it?

I got that too, AH would start then almost immediately alt-tab on its own to the error prompt.  I had to reboot to get rid of the error.

There's some discussion going on about CTDs possibly related to diving, or high Gs and filming.

Haven't had it happen yet, but others seem to be having probs with it.

If I have my film on and get popped and explode with a 1 burst hit, I'll get a CTD.  I've experienced 4 so far and all followed the same pattern.

Mebbe the new version actually models O2 content correctly at altitude?

The other night I one-pinged akak and he exploded - I have it on film.  Now, this is the clincher: when I watch the film offiline, my film viewer crashes right when I shoot akak.  It crashes every time 100%, right at the same spot.  Rebooting doesn't help.

It it helps, I can email the film file to HTC - just gimme an address...

This may or may not be related...

Twice I've had a total screen freeze followed by a XP reboot while adjusting the gamma slider.

HTC has reported finding a bug that was related to filming and crashing. It's in the Bug forum.

Many of us have found that the problem goes away if we don't film. And since films made right now don't work in the viewer, well.... it's not a big loss.

Best regards,

Just found I'm having film viewer trouble as well. When ever I play film number 172 it only plays the first 17 seconds, once it goes past that it closes out. If you try to drag the time line pass 17 seconds it closes out as well.

It's not that hard to reproduce.  Just fly to an nme field, start the film recorder and dive down and fire rockets at the VH or any target on the nme airfield.  as soon as the first rocket hits, boom, your on the desk top.

Each and every time.  Don't turn on the film recorder and there is no problem.

Happened to me during the SnS last night.  Patrolled for 45 minutes (yes, film viewer on), finally located the nme, dove on some JU88's, fired, saw some hit sprites, BAMMO,  AH crashed and locked.  Bit big time.

Interestingly the film shows only up to just before firing, no hit sprites.

Yeah I am seeing the same thing crash to desktop. What happens to me is when I am filming and drop ord or engage then BAM !!!  CTD.. "Windows has experienced an ERROR while running ACES HIGH II"

Have also noticed that many flight control switches are performing inconsistently as well. Things like Combat Trim, Auto Climb, Auto Pilot are performing flakey. I am not seeing message on text window when I turn combat trim on and off as was usual.

I sent a detailed email to high tech support knowing that I am not the only one experiencing these things. We will see what they do about them.

Later,
KayBay

I've had that problem too. I was looking forward to getting some good screenies of myself, Fester and Airmes winging up in K4s the other night.

Alas, the viewer crashes before we get into the action.
