Probably the one main reason no country will ever try to forcibly invade the U.S.

His current research is concentrated in two areas: the emergence of transnational state and non-state action to combat small arms and light weapons proliferation
He is the founder and Programme Director of the Small Arms Survey project
Nuff said. :D

how do they know how many guns people have, did they call 1000 people and ask "how many guns do you have?"
i call shenanigans, another " funded study" that proves nothing except that researchers can make a living from doing nothing.
-
why is the left so dishonest? here we go again... an anti gun rant disguised as a study.
What is funny is that what I got out of it was....
People want guns and... the rest of the world is underarmed. That of course is not what he wanted to get across.
He also claims that only 12% of all guns are registered... I don't know about that but then... neither does he.
Also... in countries like england that are firearms freedom is severely restricted..... Who in their right mind would say that they had gramps 455 webley hidden under a floorboard? Hell... they would be better off if they were caught raping or assaulting someone.

lol
You are the most paranoid person I have ever seen lazs.
I read the article and didn't see it as bias one way or the other.
-
curval.... wait for it....
did you not read the link jackal posted about the guy?
"His research has concentrated on international security and arms control, and on multilateralism and global governance. His published work includes Arms and the State (Cambridge University Press, 1992), and articles in International Studies Quarterly, European Journal of International Relations, Review of International Studies, Global Governance, Contemporary Security Policy, Mershon Review of International Studies, Cooperation and Conflict, and International Journal, as well as chapters in a dozen edited volumes. He is also the editor or co-editor of Culture and Security: Multilateralism, Arms Control and Security Building (Frank Cass, 1999); Critical Security Studies: Concepts and Cases (with Michael C. Williams) (University of Minnesota Press, 1997); and State, Society and the United Nations System: Changing Perspectives on Multilateralism (with W. Andy Knight) (UN University Press, 1995).
His current research is concentrated in two areas: the emergence of transnational state and non-state action to combat small arms and light weapons proliferation, and state-formation and insecurity in the post-colonial world. He is also writing a book on the evolution of security studies and approaches to security for Polity Press with Michael C. Williams."
The guy is a tool.... his agenda is stated openly in his works. How do you not get left wing UN nutjob out of "global governance"?

Nope didn't read that....don't need to as I don't care enough about the issue.
You weren't referring to Jackal's link from what I could tell anyway. You quoted the 12% thing out of the original story. The original story didn't appear to be anti-gun or pro-gun.
Others, such as 4Deck and Willdcrd seemed to think the article was cool...I don't think they are anti-gn nut liberals.

You know Lazs, I got the same impression you did. It sounded like the more violence stricken areas of the world had the least ownership of guns per 100 people. The greater the gun ownership, the wealthier the economies; and it did seem from the article that it would be a desirable thing to increase wealth in these areas so people could own more guns.
I'm glad Jackal went a little further and looked up Krause, because clearly this is not his intent nor desire that more small arms be more evenly distributed to these poor areas.
So either Reuters is in favor of more guns by its presentation, or Reuters is being dishonest by not saying who Krause is or what he wants to do.
I received a call from the NRA Sunday, the subject of which is Hillary Clinton's new bill to outlaw .22's (can't remember the bill number but will try to look it up.) There is also a new bill pending which will form a secret list of people who can't own guns, and if you are on it you will be on that list forever. Has anyone more information about these bills or been called by the NRA in regards to this?

I'm betting we have the most fast food restaurants per capita in the world too, yet heart disease kills 1000 times more people each year than guns.
I think I helped that average per person. 2 handguns, 3 rifles, 2 shotguns. But that's only 1/5 of what my father used to have in the closet while I grew up. No gun locks either, amazing we lived!

just the full-auto .22s with bayonets, fore-grips, and flash supressors.

I'm not sure John. Was in the middle of something when the phone rang and didn't write down the bill number (SR ****), but that is a good question. Should have paid more attention and written it down. If it is all .22s I'm sure there will be more about it brought to light before long.
The other advisement concerned a secret list being prepared of people who can't own guns (probably similar to the do-not-fly list.) This list, once enacted, would be set up in such a manner that (in the words of the caller) some bureaucrat bean counter would determine who should be on the list, i.e. very vague conditions would apply as to who qualified to be on the list. "Secret" implies you wouldn't find out until you went to purchase a gun, at which point I suppose the authorities would check to see if you owned other guns. And I guess this would be accomplished through gun registration at some point.
This is Hillary Clinton's bill and secret list doings. That's about all I know for sure.

This is the link to the bill. It's a bill redefining armor peircing ammo such that an attorny general can say with the backing of law that .22 cal ammo is armor peircing along with all calibers above it. Back door future total ban on firearms in America as soon as Billory or any dem or rino gets in office.

Agh! This is an outrage!!! I cannot beleive this nation! Its an embarrasment to our forefathers!
We should have 99 guns to every 100 people!!!
-
yep.. I think the guy miscalculated.. I believe that he expected people to be frieghtened and shocked that the evil Americans with their neocon government and outdated individualality were not bowing to the civilized UN.
The article probly did have that affect in some of the already cowed failed countries like england.
It had the opposite affect here... note the replies but... the menopausal democrat women sewing circle of socialism will latch onto it to use in their never ending fight to remove our firearms rights.
I can't wait for the obligatory photo op where hillary is shooting trap and saying how much she loves the shooting sports to try to fool a few gunowners.
