Throw out the CGI, and was The Blue Max really all that different?
I'll wait until I see it. Flyboys sucked, but this one could still turn out good.

The only proper old-era flying-movie I saw recently was ark blue world, - but that was of course, WW2.
Does anyone remember the old "Aces High"??

Here's the IMDB page on the project. Looks interesting:

Looks a hell of a lot better than "Flyboys" from the trailer. I guess we shall see.
The a/c were not all just generic Nieuport 17s and all-red Triplanes for one. They might have actually put >< much historical accuracy into this one, and not just made a WW1 "Pearl Harbor".

One year ago in this Forum (http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=183563) i was writing about this Movie,
i still havent seen Flyboys because not one movie theatre played it here :(
so i hope at least this german production movie makes it into the theatre.
Waiting for the Flyboys DVD...

At least they stay true to the different models of planes that were flown. In Fly Boys they flew the same models. This one shows the different variety of planes that were flown.

I hate it already. Supersonic biplanes and obvious CGI that makes AH look state of the art. We can probably expect a paper thin plot and a ridiculous romantic sub plot.
Flyboys was on here at the local cinema but after the reviews I didn't bother. A newspaper reviewer here made a great point about one scene. All the guys were out drinking but in nod to modern PC BS. Not a single one was smoking a cigarette. The boys were about to fly and die but no cancer sticks were allowed to sully their lips.

I think from what I can see there the aviation sequences look a ton better and more realistic then flyboys

Flyboys was the worst POS evah. So bad I had to turn it off halfway through.
a great topic, horrible directing, acting and plot.

All the Camels and SE's going down in flames, just another film which changes history in order to make it entertaining.
IIRC Von Richtofen, like McCudden, scored the majority of his kills against two seaters (the RFC/RAF had a similar air doctrine to that on the land of just sending wave after wave of two seater aircraft over the lines, with the thinking that at least one will get back with the info) and only shot down 8 Camels, and 4 SE's amongst his ~80 kills. But i guess that wouldn't make as much as an interesting film?
Saying that... i will probably try to see it :D
They should have made a film about Werner Voss, he was probably the most gifted of the German aviators and his Triplane was cooler than the Red Baron's :D
In McCudden's words after his flight shot him down: "I shall never forget my admiration for that German pilot, who singlehanded fought seven of us for ten minutes and also put some bullets through all our machines. His flying was wonderful, his courage magnificent, and in my opinion he is the bravest German airman whom it has been my privilege to see fight."
