Does anyone have experience with Geiger Counters? I'm looking to buy one for ***** and giggles and would like more info. No, I don't need BinFord 5000 model, just something cheap. It would be nice to do Alfa, but doesn't have to...

nope. but there is a place in phoenix that has been known to have them...apache reclamation (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&safe=off&resnum=0&um=1&q=apache+reclamation&near=Phoenix,+AZ&fb=1&view=text&latlng=33430120,-112077478,3787513903362463728) . used to go there for art parts in grad school.
one of my professor made an installation once using a geiger counter and a fiestaware plate. they were originally made with uranium in the glaze. the plate was on a table that tilted back and forth like a see saw with a gieger counter in the center...when the plate passed over, it went nuts. pretty funny piece.
anywho...
where was i?

During my vacation in Russia, I asked around but didn't get desired results. It seems civil service models from 60s go for rather cheap price so I'm looking into those. Although they do mostly beta at min of .1R/h which is rather high. I just want to look around my environment for beta/gamma. I visit desert often and wonder about what unexpected radiation one might get.
About chino,
I moved. I finished BS recently and now I'm looking for work. Right now I'm trying for officer in USAF as a pilot/Nav. Back up system admin. Another backup is starting business with friend at Indianapolis.
