How people speak and write is a good indicator of how well they did in their highschool english classes.
As an employer, I see all kinds of resumes with obvious spelling and grammatical errors, those get round filed much more quickly than most. In interviews, if a prospective employee can't speak properly or uses colloquial language then I will not hire because my company will not be represented by dullards and halfwits.
As for internet spelling cops, propping up their self esteem by knocking others down is a flaw in their character, their problem not mine.
No, I don't use a spell checker, but I will google a word now and then if I'm not sure of it's spelling or true meaning. I was awake during my english classes and even enjoyed them.

Intresting thing flatbar...I work out here in the country....we have a guy here that uses alot of"Big Words"...people look at him like he has a third eye.......Guess its where you come from and where you do business that makes a difference when it comes to "Big words" and correct spelling!
Some times I use "Big words" and my boss ask me what that means?
Hes a multi multi multi millionaire he doesn't spell the best or has the best grammer.....he is very successful

Some people would call him a pedant. It can also be construed as a flaw in someone's character.

But poor spelling is a poor indicator of ones intelligence.
As I have mentioned on this subject some time ago.
We have all seen Hitech spell.
Patton was notoriously poor at spelling.
I dont think there are many that would call either a halfwit.
Or wouldn't listen up if they had something to say.
How one speaks is another matter.
While spelling errors can be checked and fixed easily enough.
Those who cannot or will not speak intelligent I would agree would be a poor representative for any serious company.
That being said I know of few people regardless of education or intelligence who consistently speak proper English. Including a few who are otherwise anal about spelling and would be typified here as "spelling police"
-
I guess I just wanted to make a backhanded point...that is....Its childish to slam someone on these, or any forms about spelling...Its like some one you know trying to make you look bad.....they highlight your flaws to make themselves look good:mad:
-
The funniest part of this post is his subject line..."Too all the spelling police..."
He used "too" when he should have used "to".
We call that, ironic.
-
misspells are acceptable. its deliberate and constant ignoring of basic spelling and grammer that gets irritating.

Lack of capitalization and not using the apostrophe when writing a contraction is what really is irritating, almost as bad as using quotation marks when no quote exists.
-
Now now, "Holden" we've discussed this "before". Allow me a few "minutes" to search for the "thread". I believe these "quotes" we're a sign of the end of the "world".
Found it! :lol (http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=206402&highlight=quotes)
P.S. Click the laughing face.
