i still get lots of screen freeze. the crashing part is fixed but the mad screen freeze still kicking my butt???????

yea me2 when i talk on vox once logged in i freeze sometimes for 5 mins and then end up in tower or it discoes me i mean it hapopens when ppl talk on vox to me too its really annoying:noid :furious

still getting them after this last upgrade lots of them too for about 5-8seconds

you guys should post your computer spec (Dxdiag) and some info like what you were doing when the freezes happened and such. The more info you post the better chance someone might have an answer.
There are a number of things that can cause screen freezes, how many films do you have in your films folder? If you have a bunch it could cause them when you start the fillm recorder.
Just need more info.

and what i am doing when it happens i can be flying, GVin, or even in the tower. this has never happen before the new version came out.

what in game texture size are you using? I know when I was running my 9800 with one size I'd get mini screen freezes, but with the other it didn't. Funny thing was I think the 512s ran better than the 256s :rolleyes:
Another thing you could check, is skins. A bunch were added, maybe as you system loads a new skin as it enters your area, you get a screen freeze as it looks for it, then loads it. Try turning off skins. With only a gig of RAM you better not be trying to pre-load skins. Skuzzy suggests you clear out all skins but the one you want to see, and turn off the auto downloader for the skins so it doesn't change on ya. This way your system isn't over whelmed by the skins.

i have it set to 512 and you are right 9800 does run better with 512.
i dont have skins enabled and i do not have auto download skins checked
1gig of ram is that memory if so i can upgrade that i still have slots open. i just need to get this to work till i upgrade my system next month.

I had a friend who said "adding ram is NEVER a bad thing!" Depends on how bad the freezes are. If your going to upgrade the computer next month, why not wait? Ram memory is the easiest thing to add, and it pretty much always helps.

I would suggest the following:
1. Run DxDiag again and and reduce hardware acceleration (under the sound tab) by one notch.
2. Install the older 4.12 video drivers from ATI site.
3. In the ATI control panel, (right click on desktop>Properties>Settings> Advanced>) there is button labeled "compatibility" at the bottom of the section for graphic settings. Sorry, I can't remember exact tab name, but disable all three items under that compatibility section.
4. You should install the driver (actually just an .inf file) for your monitor. If you don't have it, you can usually get it from the manufacturer's website. It gives you more options for screen resolution and refresh rates. This is not required, but you'll be able to run at higher refresh and even 1280x1024 resolution. Things will look much nicer then using the plug & play driver.
5. Limit in-game refresh rate to 60fps.
6. Download FSAutoStart and use it.
