Title: Speaking of comic strips
Post by: JB73 on August 30, 2007, 08:55:28 PM
Best daily comic strip ever?

Childhood: Garfield.

Later life: Calvin and Hobbes, The Far Side...

Best overall: Bloom County. Steve Dallas is a demi-god. the giant Purple Snorklewacker a close second....

Bill the Cat = My Idol. Anyone who can play the electric tongue, nail Jeane Kirkpatrick, have Donald Trump's Brain transplanted in him, die, then be cloned by a small black child (who can land the space shuttle in the neighbor's bean patch), and be traded to the Russians for fellow "spy" Cutter John is just the coolest drawn character in history.

Garfield? :huh

I mean, yeah, you did say childhood, so I guess I can forgive you, but are you serious?

It's not funny, the drawings aren't anything special, there is almost never any depth, and it takes an entire army to create.

the old school original garfield was pretty damned funny...and mean as hell.
(at least it was when i was a kid...the first 2 or three books)

bloom country was one of the greatest strips of all time.
outland (and beyond) sucked.

gary larsen.  pure genius.  noone has even come close in the single panel world.

calvin and hobbes is my number one i think...yep.
